e-Government Strategy for the <strong>Western</strong> Australian <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Sector</strong><br />
Employing the Principles of e–Government<br />

Underpinning the three goals of e-government are six principles to guide<br />
the way in which e-government transformation should be approached.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se principles should act as the ‘critical questions’ that test all<br />
decisions made in relation to developing e-government initiatives.<br />
Under each principle are examples of the sorts of questions agencies<br />
should be asking of their projects and strategic initiatives.<br />
Citizen-centric<br />
Accessibility<br />
and Choice<br />
Services and information will be designed and<br />
focused on the needs of <strong>Western</strong> Australians.<br />
Q: Has the project’s potential customer base been<br />
fully realised<br />
<strong>The</strong> service delivery model will enable <strong>Western</strong><br />
Australians accessibility and choice of services to<br />
meet their individual needs and circumstances.<br />
Q: Does this project or initiative improve the choice<br />
of service delivery channels for its customer base<br />
Trust, Confidence<br />
and Security<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Western</strong> Australian <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Sector</strong> must earn the<br />
trust and confidence of citizens that government is<br />
collecting, using and disclosing their information in a<br />
manner which is consistent, secure and ethical and<br />
which respects privacy, and that online transactions<br />
with government are secure.<br />
Q: What measures have been taken to ensure that the<br />
project effectively manages the security of personal<br />
information provided by its customer base<br />
Better Governance e-Government is an integral component in enabling<br />
government to improve its structures, governance<br />
frameworks and processes to better serve the citizens<br />
of <strong>Western</strong> Australia.<br />

Agencies will work in a more collaborative manner,<br />
