La Palma is the most north-western Canary island. Stretching
over 708 square kilometres and reaching up to 2,426 metres
above sea level, its visitors tend to give it the nickname “La
Isla Bonita” (the beautiful island) Its unique topography, scenic
variety, untouched nature, preserved traditions and kind people
surprise both islanders and visitors.
The island’s culture, history, archaeology, handicrafts as well
as cuisine are its hidden gems. Plenty of museums and visitor
centres tell you the story of the island’s life and culture.
Undoubtedly, La Palma’s clean and clear night sky is one of its
many symbols. It has attracted astronomers and amateurs who
are willing to unveil the Universe’s mysteries and secrets at La
Palma’s highest point: the Roque de los Muchachos. Not in
vain, la Palma is the first Starlight Reserve/Holiday Destination
in the world
