La Palma is the most north-western <strong>Canary</strong> island. Stretching<br />

over 708 square kilometres and reaching up to 2,426 metres<br />

above sea level, its visitors tend to give it the nickname “La<br />

Isla Bonita” (the beautiful island) Its unique topography, scenic<br />

variety, untouched nature, preserved traditions and kind people<br />

surprise both islanders and visitors.<br />

The island’s culture, history, archaeology, handicrafts as well<br />

as cuisine are its hidden gems. Plenty of museums and visitor<br />

centres tell you the story of the island’s life and culture.<br />

Undoubtedly, La Palma’s clean and clear night sky is one of its<br />

many symbols. It has attracted astronomers and amateurs who<br />

are willing to unveil the Universe’s mysteries and secrets at La<br />

Palma’s highest point: the Roque de los Muchachos. Not in<br />

vain, la Palma is the first Starlight Reserve/Holiday Destination<br />

in the world<br />
