The Academic F2 trainee in Renal Medicine will spend 4 months working with me on a<br />

project based on pharmacogenetics applied to immunosuppression for renal transplantation.<br />

Current work is focused on genetic influences on pharmacodynamics of tacrolimus involving<br />

cell culture work and flow cytometry. There will be opportunities to undertake a descriptive<br />

clinical project/audit and teaching.<br />

Trainees will spend 4 months on a project related to vascular surgery. The project and field<br />

of research will depend on previous experience and aspirations of the trainee. The broad<br />

subject fields offered for research include the molecular biology of vascular disease; health<br />

services research; novel endovascular procedures and audit. All trainees will be expected to<br />

complete at least on project that would result in a publication and/or presentation.<br />
