Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest Trusts in the NHS and<br />
provides a full range of services to the local population and also to patients from further<br />
afield, both nationally and internationally. St. Thomas’ Hospital is situated on the south bank<br />
of the River Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament. Guy’s Hospital is adjacent to<br />
<strong>London</strong> Bridge. Both hospitals have excellent transport links and are easily accessible to<br />
patients, visitors and staff. The Trust is able to provide specialist care for services such as<br />
cardiac surgery, children’s care, oncology, dermatology and ophthalmology. The Trust is<br />
committed to becoming the major university hospital in the UK and to staying at the forefront<br />
in patient care, teaching and research.<br />
Guy’s and St. Thomas’ have contracts with more than 65 purchasing authorities, covering all<br />
major specialties such as surgery, dermatology, haematology, HIV and GU care, obstetrics,<br />
ophthalmology, palliative and pain care, radiology, lithotripsy, cardiology, diabetes,<br />
haemophilia, oncology, paediatrics, dentistry, maternity care, plastic surgery, respiratory<br />
care, rheumatology, ITU and renal care.<br />
King’s <strong>College</strong> Hospital NHS Foundation Trust<br />
King's <strong>College</strong> Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare and emergency services for a<br />
cosmopolitan and ethnically diverse community in South East <strong>London</strong> as well as being a<br />
major academic centre. King’s has close links to King’s <strong>College</strong> <strong>London</strong>, part of the<br />
University of <strong>London</strong>, under which are the medical and dental Schools, known as the Guy’s,<br />
King’s and St.Thomas’ Hospitals Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. This partnership aims<br />
to create a world-class medical centre between King’s <strong>College</strong> and the two teaching hospital<br />
Trusts. King’s <strong>College</strong> Hospital is internationally and nationally renowned for its<br />
specialist work in liver (with the largest liver transplant programme in Europe), renal and<br />
cardiac services, neonatal medicine, neurosciences and diabetes attracting referrals from<br />
across the United Kingdom and abroad, as well as supporting leading edge research and an<br />
undergraduate medical school. It is however also a local hospital, providing vital, and<br />
extensive, acute hospital services to the residents of southeast <strong>London</strong> which accounts for<br />
70% of its work. Employing over 5,000 people, there are currently two inpatient sites - at<br />
Denmark Hill and Mapother House.<br />
