There are five different speciality-based Academic Foundation Programmes on offer at Barts<br />

and The <strong>London</strong> School of Medicine and Dentistry, for which there are 15 places in total.<br />

The Academic Foundation Programmes are based at The Royal <strong>London</strong>, Newham, Barking<br />

Havering and Redbridge (King George Hospital), Whipps Cross or Homerton, with each of<br />

the 2 years taking place in a different hospital. Each programme will involve an initial 12<br />

months (F1) in a busy hospital where you will learn basic medical and surgical skills, and<br />

acquire the necessary clinical competences. The second year (F2) will involve either three<br />

posts with an academic link (and an opportunity to complete a formal research project) or<br />

training in medical education.<br />
