been housed with the Eagle County Historical Society and the Eagle Public Library.
Rehousing and processing occurred in June 2010.
Note (Abstract): The collection contains personal correspondence saved by
William H. Luby. The earliest date is 1888; the latest date is 1921. Business
correspondence saved dates from 1890 to 1919. Colorado State tax forms saved for 1945
and for 1947. Newspaper clippings saved have been photocopied and date from 1917 to
1920, with one clipping from 1993. There are 9 pieces of memorabilia.

Historical Note: William Harold Luby graduated from University of Colorado Law,
was admitted to the bar, and practiced law in Eagle, Colorado. After service in the Army
during World War I, he returned to Eagle and was district attorney for the 5 th Judicial
District before serving as District Judge, 5 th Judicial District, from 1934 to 1969. He was
a member of the Masons, American Legion of Red Cliff, Lions, and BPOE.
The papers in this collection were passed down from William H. Luby to his son,
John H. Luby. John H. Luby added the most recent clipping (1993) and donated them to
the Eagle County Historical Society.
