Battery<br />

Battery Installation<br />

NOTICE: Using a new battery that has not been fully charged can damage the<br />

battery and result in a shorter life. It can also hinder vehicle<br />

performance. Always install a fully charged battery.<br />

1. Ensure that the battery is<br />

fully charged.<br />

2. Place the battery in the<br />

battery holder. Make sure<br />

the positive terminal is<br />

toward the passenger side<br />

of the vehicle.<br />

3. Install the battery vent<br />

tube and route it down in<br />

front of the shift cable,<br />

into the left front wheel<br />

well.<br />

4. Route the vent tube<br />

through the hole in the<br />

frame support from the<br />

back side and place it<br />

behind the wheel well<br />

panel.<br />

NOTICE: Route the vent tube as<br />

shown to prevent<br />

electrolyte from<br />

damaging critical<br />

components such as<br />

the wire harness, brake lines and throttle cable.<br />

5. Coat the terminals with dielectric grease or petroleum jelly.<br />

6. Connect and tighten the red positive (+) cable first.<br />

7. Connect and tighten the black negative (-) cable last.<br />

8. Verify that cables are properly routed.<br />

9. Install the hold-down strap.<br />
