MAINTENANCE Filter Systems Breather Filter and Hoses 1. Lift the cargo box and locate the air box. 2. Follow the right-hand breather line out the side of the air box and locate the filter. 3. Remove and inspect the filter for debris. Blow gently through the filter in the direction of the arrow to check for clogging. Replace as needed. 4. Check hoses for cracks, deterioration, abrasion, or leaks. Replace as needed. 5. Reinstall the filter with the arrow pointing toward the engine. Secure the clamps. NOTICE: Operation of the vehicle without a breather filter can cause engine damage. Always reinstall the breather filter after removing it for service. 72
MAINTENANCE Carburetor The idle speed adjustment should be performed as outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart, or whenever the idle speed is changed. Recommended engine idle RPM is 1200 +/- 200. Carburetor/Engine Idle RPM Adjustment If the engine idle speed is unsatisfactory and all other conditions are favorable, the carburetor can be adjusted. 1. Apply the brakes. 2. Place the transmission in PARK. 3. Start the engine and allow it to warm up for approximately five minutes. 4. Remove the seat. Locate the idle adjust screw. 5. Place the transmission in gear. 6. Turn the screw in (clockwise) to raise RPM. Turn the screw out (counterclockwise) to lower RPM. Idle Adjust Screw 73
