MAINTENANCE<br />
Vehicle Immersion<br />
NOTICE: If your vehicle becomes immersed, major engine damage can result<br />
if the machine is not thoroughly inspected. Take the vehicle to your<br />
dealer before starting the engine.<br />
If it's impossible to take your RANGER to a dealer before starting it, follow<br />
the steps outlined below.<br />
1. Move the vehicle to dry land or at the<br />
very least, to water below the footrests.<br />
2. Disconnect the fuel pump wires.<br />
3. Remove the spark plug.<br />
4. Place a clean container under the<br />
engine and loosen the carburetor drain<br />
screw two turns.<br />
5. Dry any water present in the air box.<br />
Filter replacement is required if water<br />
is present.<br />
6. Thoroughly dry the air pre-cleaner<br />
located under the hood.<br />

7. Turn the engine over several times<br />
using the electric start.<br />
8. Inspect the drained fuel for water or sediment.<br />
9. Dry the spark plug and reinstall it, or install a new plug.<br />
10. Tighten the carburetor drain screw.<br />
11. Reconnect the fuel pump wires.<br />
12. Attempt to start the engine. If necessary, repeat the drying procedure.<br />
13. Take the vehicle to your dealer for service as soon as possible,<br />
whether you succeed in starting it or not.<br />
14. If water has been ingested into the PVT follow the procedure on<br />
page 69 for drying.<br />
