PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JULY, 2010.<br />
1. CHIEF ITEM :<br />
1.1 Sri H.Pathak, DDGM (LACD) attended Plan review Meeting at H.Q.New Delhi<br />
on 2 nd & 3 rd July,2010, meeting on issue related to RMIC at Pune on 6 th & 7 th<br />
July,2010 and meeting with DGM. at New Delhi on 09.07.10 on <strong>of</strong>ficial matter.<br />
2. ADMINISTRATIVE :<br />
2.1 Sri H.Malakar,A.M.Gr.I has retired from Govt. service on 31.07.10 after<br />
attaining the age <strong>of</strong> superannuation.<br />
2.2 Sri C.Kalita and D.Chetia, S.As were proceeded on tour w.e.f. 09.07.10 to<br />
New delhi for undergoing/Intermediate Training on General Meteorology<br />
under batch no. 221.<br />
3. CLIMATOLOGICAL SECTION :<br />
3.1 Surface climate data for the month <strong>of</strong> June, 2010 in respect <strong>of</strong><br />
M.O.Mohanbari,M.O.Dhubri, R.M.C.Guwahati, M.O.Cherrapunjee<br />
and M.O.Silchar sent to ADGM(R), Pune.<br />
3.2 Meteorological data supplied to 15 parties.<br />
3.3 Amount collected from the parties for supplying data/Weather report<br />
during the month <strong>of</strong> July, 2010 :- Rs.30,233/-.<br />
3.4 Checked surface climate for all five stations for the month <strong>of</strong> June,10 was<br />
forwarded to ADGM(R), Pune<br />
3.5 Surface Daten9 data <strong>of</strong> all stations for the month <strong>of</strong> March,10 send to<br />
ADGM(R), Pune.<br />
4. AVIATION FORECASTING SECTION:<br />
4.1 No. <strong>of</strong> documentation provided to civil flights: 469.<br />
4.2 No. <strong>of</strong> documentation provided to Defence flights:92.<br />
4.3 Sri S.O’Neill Shaw, Director represented the monthly Airport security<br />
meeting on 13.07.10.<br />
4.4 N.O.C. & Grief map received from A.A.I. Lakhimpur Airport for shifting<br />
<strong>of</strong> Met enclosure <strong>of</strong> M.O. North-Lakhimpur.<br />
5. NON-AVIATION FORECASTING SECTION :<br />
5.1 Monthly total rainfall <strong>of</strong> various stations was transmitted to ADGM(R)<br />
Pune, DDGM (WF), Pune, DGM (H), New Delhi.<br />
5.2 Weekly/Mid. Weekly/updated monthly DRMS data (actual, normal,<br />
Percentage) were sent to DGM (H) New Delhi on regular basis.<br />
5.3 Spatial distribution <strong>of</strong> Chief amount <strong>of</strong> Rainfall were sent to

DDGM (WF), Pune on weekly basis.<br />
5.4 Sunrise/Sunset/Moonrise/Moonset/time table for the month <strong>of</strong><br />
June, 2010 were supplied to AOC 19 th Wing IAF, Command.<br />
Met.Office IAF Shillong, Met. Briefing, AIR, Guwahati.<br />
5.5 Local F/C for 24 hrs./Regional F/C including Max/Min. temp. <strong>of</strong> 06<br />
Major Town <strong>of</strong> Assam and 07 states capital <strong>of</strong> NE states were supplied<br />
to DDK, Guwahati every day for telecast in NE-News (Local News),<br />
Prag News (Local TV Channel) and to local press for publication.<br />
5.6 Heavy Rainfall Warning = 09 nos.<br />
5.7 Map Discussion weekly = 03 nos.<br />
6. TELECOMMUNICATION SECTION :<br />
6.1 Percentage <strong>of</strong> serviceability <strong>of</strong> the following equipments are as follows :-<br />
(a) DMDD = 100% (Problem in Met. GIS S<strong>of</strong>tware persists)<br />
(b) IVRS = 100%.<br />
(c) HSDT = 100%.<br />
(d) V-SAT = U/s through the month.<br />
(e) Internet lease line = 100%.<br />
(f) Plotters = 100%.<br />
(g) Synergic :- 100% (Synergic has been kept shutdown due to power cable<br />
burning and A/c fault w.e.f. 24.06.10 to 30.07.10)<br />
7. UPPER AIR UNIT:<br />
7.1 Radio Sonde/Radio Wind Unit :<br />
Total Number <strong>of</strong> ascent : 27.<br />
Maximum Height RS : 9.8 hpa on 11.07.10 at 0000 UTC.<br />
30.403 kms.<br />

7.2 Pilot Balloon Oservatory : 14.<br />
Max. height reached at 0600Z = 6.65 km. on 14.07.10.<br />
Max. height reached at 1800Z = 1.75 km. on 11.07.10.<br />
7.3 No. <strong>of</strong> surface observation taken = 248.<br />
8. AGRO-ADVISORY SERVICE UNIT:<br />
8.1 09 Nos. <strong>of</strong> composite bulletin for the State <strong>of</strong> Assam on the basis <strong>of</strong><br />
bulletin received from AMFUs – Jorhat, Sonitpur, Gosaigaon, Diphu,<br />
Karimganj and Shillongani have been prepared and sent to DDGM<br />
(Agrimet), Pune, DDK, Guwahati, AIR, Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Silchar.<br />
9. FLOOD METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE, GUWAHATI :<br />
9.1 Manuscript <strong>of</strong> daily rainfall data for the month <strong>of</strong> June.10 and some<br />
other previous months total = 42 months were sent to ADGM(R), Puneand<br />
DGM(H), New Delhi.

9.2 Daily weather bulletins/forecast/QPF and rainfall data <strong>of</strong> IMD stations<br />
were issued and supplied to CWC. MBD, Guwahati and UBD, Dibrugarh.<br />
9.3 A total = 62 nos. <strong>of</strong> Bangladesh messages were received from CWC,MBD,<br />
Guwahati and transmitted to Dhaka Bangladesh through Telecom, New<br />
Delhi.<br />
9.4 A total = 31 nos. <strong>of</strong> rainfall messages were issued and send to Dhaka,<br />
Bangladesh through Telecom, New Delhi.<br />
10. INSPECTION SECTION :<br />
10.1 No. <strong>of</strong> Surface observatory inspected = 07.<br />
10.2 No. <strong>of</strong> PBO inspected = 01.<br />

GENERAL SECTION:<br />
13.1 (i) Sri S.Dutt,S.A relieved on the A/N <strong>of</strong> 01.07.10 on tour to M.O.<br />
Lengpui w.e.f. 03.07.10.<br />
(ii) Sri D.Chetia,S.A relieved on the A/N <strong>of</strong> 08.07.10 to undergo<br />
Intermediate Course <strong>of</strong> Training in General Meteorology at R.M.C.<br />
Delhi w.e.f. 12.07.10.<br />
(iii) Sri Uma Borah,S.A relieved on the A/N <strong>of</strong> 10.07.10 on tour to M.O.<br />
Lengpui w.e.f. 15.07.10.<br />
(iv) Sri B.Chakraborty,S.A joined in the F/N <strong>of</strong> 13.07.10 after completion<br />
<strong>of</strong> Intermediate Gen. Met. Training in the batch no. 220 at<br />
R.M.C. New Delhi.<br />

M.C.Goa.<br />
(vii) Sri S.K.Roy Choudhury,A.M.II joined on the F/N <strong>of</strong> 26.07.10 after<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> training in DWR Products etc. at CDR Kolkata.<br />
13.2 AVIATION SECTION:<br />
a) Total number <strong>of</strong> F/C issued = 62.<br />
b) Verification <strong>of</strong> local F/C and monthly statistics forwarded to H.Q.<br />
c) Total number <strong>of</strong> aerodrome F/C issued = 186.<br />
13.3 Telecom Section :-<br />

13.4 APU/WT/RTT SECTION :<br />
a) Global Radiation tabulation is done.<br />

c) No. <strong>of</strong> rainfall sample analyzed for conductivity = 22.<br />

13.5 P.B.O. SECTION:<br />

(b) Highest ascent = 6.04 kms. on 27.07.10 at 0600 UTC.<br />

13.6 RS/RW /RADAR SECTION:<br />

14. P.E.T. JORHAT :<br />
14.1 All the lysimeter balance were U/S from 02.07.10 to 08.07.10 and 17.07.10<br />
to 26.07.10 due to heavy rain remaining period all the balance were in<br />
good working condition during the month and recording <strong>of</strong> E.T<br />
observation continued for the period.<br />
14.2 Weekly soil sample have taken during the month. Total nos. <strong>of</strong> sample<br />
taken during the month = 36 nos.

14.3 Synoptic observation for 03Z ,06Z ,09Z and 12Z have taken during the<br />
month.<br />
14.4 The following data has been sent to Agrimet. Pune.<br />
(i) E.T. data for the month <strong>of</strong> June, 2010.<br />
(ii) Met. data for the month <strong>of</strong> June, 2010.<br />
(iii) S.M. data for the month <strong>of</strong> June, 2010.<br />
14.5 Sri A.K.Raha,A.M.I from R.M.C. Guwahati has been inspected PET.<br />
Jorhat on 24.07.10 to 25.07.10.<br />
14.6 Sri P.Sonowal, A.M.II has been relieved on the A/N <strong>of</strong> 15.07.10 in<br />
connection with his promotional transfer to M.C.Patna.<br />
14.7 Sri P.Sonowal,A.M.II has been joined at PET. Jorhat (after declining<br />
his promotion to the post <strong>of</strong> A.M.I) on the F/N <strong>of</strong> 29.07.10 in his<br />
existing post as per instruction from R.M.C. Guwahati.<br />
15. M.C. ITANAGAR :<br />
15.1 9 (Nine) numbers <strong>of</strong> AAS bulletins were issued during the month.<br />
15.2 31 (Thirty-One) numbers <strong>of</strong> Local Weather forecasts were issued to AIR<br />
Itanagar, during the month.<br />
15.3 Sri N.K.Debnath,A.M.I joined on the F/N <strong>of</strong> 30.07.10 at M.C.Itanagar.<br />
