PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JULY, 2010.
1. CHIEF ITEM :
1.1 Sri H.Pathak, DDGM (LACD) attended Plan review Meeting at H.Q.New Delhi
on 2 nd & 3 rd July,2010, meeting on issue related to RMIC at Pune on 6 th & 7 th
July,2010 and meeting with DGM. at New Delhi on 09.07.10 on official matter.
2. ADMINISTRATIVE :
2.1 Sri H.Malakar,A.M.Gr.I has retired from Govt. service on 31.07.10 after
attaining the age of superannuation.
2.2 Sri C.Kalita and D.Chetia, S.As were proceeded on tour w.e.f. 09.07.10 to
New delhi for undergoing/Intermediate Training on General Meteorology
under batch no. 221.
3. CLIMATOLOGICAL SECTION :
3.1 Surface climate data for the month of June, 2010 in respect of
M.O.Mohanbari,M.O.Dhubri, R.M.C.Guwahati, M.O.Cherrapunjee
and M.O.Silchar sent to ADGM(R), Pune.
3.2 Meteorological data supplied to 15 parties.
3.3 Amount collected from the parties for supplying data/Weather report
during the month of July, 2010 :- Rs.30,233/-.
3.4 Checked surface climate for all five stations for the month of June,10 was
forwarded to ADGM(R), Pune
3.5 Surface Daten9 data of all stations for the month of March,10 send to
ADGM(R), Pune.
4. AVIATION FORECASTING SECTION:
4.1 No. of documentation provided to civil flights: 469.
4.2 No. of documentation provided to Defence flights:92.
4.3 Sri S.O’Neill Shaw, Director represented the monthly Airport security
meeting on 13.07.10.
4.4 N.O.C. & Grief map received from A.A.I. Lakhimpur Airport for shifting
of Met enclosure of M.O. North-Lakhimpur.
5. NON-AVIATION FORECASTING SECTION :
5.1 Monthly total rainfall of various stations was transmitted to ADGM(R)
Pune, DDGM (WF), Pune, DGM (H), New Delhi.
5.2 Weekly/Mid. Weekly/updated monthly DRMS data (actual, normal,
Percentage) were sent to DGM (H) New Delhi on regular basis.
5.3 Spatial distribution of Chief amount of Rainfall were sent to

DDGM (WF), Pune on weekly basis.
5.4 Sunrise/Sunset/Moonrise/Moonset/time table for the month of
June, 2010 were supplied to AOC 19 th Wing IAF, Command.
Met.Office IAF Shillong, Met. Briefing, AIR, Guwahati.
5.5 Local F/C for 24 hrs./Regional F/C including Max/Min. temp. of 06
Major Town of Assam and 07 states capital of NE states were supplied
to DDK, Guwahati every day for telecast in NE-News (Local News),
Prag News (Local TV Channel) and to local press for publication.
5.6 Heavy Rainfall Warning = 09 nos.
5.7 Map Discussion weekly = 03 nos.
6. TELECOMMUNICATION SECTION :
6.1 Percentage of serviceability of the following equipments are as follows :-
(a) DMDD = 100% (Problem in Met. GIS Software persists)
(b) IVRS = 100%.
(c) HSDT = 100%.
(d) V-SAT = U/s through the month.
(e) Internet lease line = 100%.
(f) Plotters = 100%.
(g) Synergic :- 100% (Synergic has been kept shutdown due to power cable
burning and A/c fault w.e.f. 24.06.10 to 30.07.10)
7. UPPER AIR UNIT:
7.1 Radio Sonde/Radio Wind Unit :
Total Number of ascent : 27.
Maximum Height RS : 9.8 hpa on 11.07.10 at 0000 UTC.
30.403 kms.
Maximum Height RW : - do –
7.2 Pilot Balloon Oservatory : 14.
Max. height reached at 0600Z = 6.65 km. on 14.07.10.
Max. height reached at 1800Z = 1.75 km. on 11.07.10.
7.3 No. of surface observation taken = 248.
8. AGRO-ADVISORY SERVICE UNIT:
8.1 09 Nos. of composite bulletin for the State of Assam on the basis of
bulletin received from AMFUs – Jorhat, Sonitpur, Gosaigaon, Diphu,
Karimganj and Shillongani have been prepared and sent to DDGM
(Agrimet), Pune, DDK, Guwahati, AIR, Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Silchar.
9. FLOOD METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE, GUWAHATI :
9.1 Manuscript of daily rainfall data for the month of June.10 and some
other previous months total = 42 months were sent to ADGM(R), Puneand
DGM(H), New Delhi.

9.2 Daily weather bulletins/forecast/QPF and rainfall data of IMD stations
were issued and supplied to CWC. MBD, Guwahati and UBD, Dibrugarh.
9.3 A total = 62 nos. of Bangladesh messages were received from CWC,MBD,
Guwahati and transmitted to Dhaka Bangladesh through Telecom, New
Delhi.
9.4 A total = 31 nos. of rainfall messages were issued and send to Dhaka,
Bangladesh through Telecom, New Delhi.
10. INSPECTION SECTION :
10.1 No. of Surface observatory inspected = 07.
10.2 No. of PBO inspected = 01.
10.3 No. of Current Weather observatory inspected = 01.
10.4 No. of Class-V observatory inspected = 01.
Other Reports :
(a) Sri A.K.Raha,A.M.I on inspection tour to PTOs (Chaparmukh)/
LumdingKohima/Golaghat/Deomali/Tinsukia) and departmental
(Dimapur/AAU Jorhat/Mohanbari) w.e.f. 5.7.10 to 6.8.10.

13. METEOROLOGICAL OFFICE, MOHANBARI
GENERAL SECTION:
13.1 (i) Sri S.Dutt,S.A relieved on the A/N of 01.07.10 on tour to M.O.
Lengpui w.e.f. 03.07.10.
(ii) Sri D.Chetia,S.A relieved on the A/N of 08.07.10 to undergo
Intermediate Course of Training in General Meteorology at R.M.C.
Delhi w.e.f. 12.07.10.
(iii) Sri Uma Borah,S.A relieved on the A/N of 10.07.10 on tour to M.O.
Lengpui w.e.f. 15.07.10.
(iv) Sri B.Chakraborty,S.A joined in the F/N of 13.07.10 after completion
of Intermediate Gen. Met. Training in the batch no. 220 at
R.M.C. New Delhi.
(v) Sri S.K.Roy Choudhury,A.M.II relieved on the A/N of 16.07.10 to

attend training in DWR Products and its utilization w.e.f. 19.07.10
at CDR Kolkata.
(vi) Sri S.M.Metri, Director joined on the F/N of 21.07.10 and taken
over the charge of the station on being promotion/transfer from
M.C.Goa.
(vii) Sri S.K.Roy Choudhury,A.M.II joined on the F/N of 26.07.10 after
completion of training in DWR Products etc. at CDR Kolkata.
13.2 AVIATION SECTION:
a) Total number of F/C issued = 62.
b) Verification of local F/C and monthly statistics forwarded to H.Q.
c) Total number of aerodrome F/C issued = 186.
13.3 Telecom Section :-
(i) Met. Messages exchanged through HSDT/Telephone/FAX/Internet/
VSAT/DMDD.
13.4 APU/WT/RTT SECTION :
a) Global Radiation tabulation is done.
b) Rain sample collected = 24.
c) No. of rainfall sample analyzed for conductivity = 22.
d) Diffused Radiation tabulation is done.
13.5 P.B.O. SECTION:
(a) No. of P.B. flights taken = 26.
(b) Highest ascent = 6.04 kms. on 27.07.10 at 0600 UTC.
(b) Highest ascent = 3.30 kms. on 24.07.10 at 1800 U.T.C.
(d) Monthly tabulation done : 02 Nos. S/R Charts.
13.6 RS/RW /RADAR SECTION:
a) Total number of ascent : 31.
b) Maximum Height RS : 3.9 hpa on 15.07.10 at 0000 UTC.

14. P.E.T. JORHAT :
14.1 All the lysimeter balance were U/S from 02.07.10 to 08.07.10 and 17.07.10
to 26.07.10 due to heavy rain remaining period all the balance were in
good working condition during the month and recording of E.T
observation continued for the period.
14.2 Weekly soil sample have taken during the month. Total nos. of sample
taken during the month = 36 nos.

14.3 Synoptic observation for 03Z ,06Z ,09Z and 12Z have taken during the
month.
14.4 The following data has been sent to Agrimet. Pune.
(i) E.T. data for the month of June, 2010.
(ii) Met. data for the month of June, 2010.
(iii) S.M. data for the month of June, 2010.
14.5 Sri A.K.Raha,A.M.I from R.M.C. Guwahati has been inspected PET.
Jorhat on 24.07.10 to 25.07.10.
14.6 Sri P.Sonowal, A.M.II has been relieved on the A/N of 15.07.10 in
connection with his promotional transfer to M.C.Patna.
14.7 Sri P.Sonowal,A.M.II has been joined at PET. Jorhat (after declining
his promotion to the post of A.M.I) on the F/N of 29.07.10 in his
existing post as per instruction from R.M.C. Guwahati.
15. M.C. ITANAGAR :
15.1 9 (Nine) numbers of AAS bulletins were issued during the month.
15.2 31 (Thirty-One) numbers of Local Weather forecasts were issued to AIR
Itanagar, during the month.
15.3 Sri N.K.Debnath,A.M.I joined on the F/N of 30.07.10 at M.C.Itanagar.
