Zone FAQ’s
Is my uniform correct
You must have your registration number with the red border showing on the front of your uniform,
the IGA patch on the top right hand side of uniform and your centre number (Centre 70) on the back
of your uniform. Your age patch should be on the left hand side of the pants. Uniforms will be
checked at marshalling and if not correct you will be sent away to get it fixed up (if possible) or not
be allowed to compete. You need to be in your new Illawong singlet/crop top and the correct plain
black shorts/briefs (with no stripes/decorations). Skins/compression pants ‐ only above knee skins
are permitted to be worn and must be worn under shorts etc. They can be any colour or brand.
Where do I get a centre number
If you haven’t already collected a centre number from the canteen, Karen Herrmann (Championships
Officer and Team Manager – 0433 116 859 ) and Deborah Engeler (Vice President – 0402 403 955)
will both have a few spare centre numbers and IGA patches . Please bring pins with you.
Where does the team sit
Generally the Illawong people sit at the far end of the grandstand (closest to baseball field) and on
the grass area beside the grandstand. You do not have to sit with the team but it is better if you are
nearby in case you need to be contacted.
Where do I get a program
One program per family is provided by the zone , this can be collected from the Illawong area when
you arrive . See Glen Nicholls (President).
I am rostered for duty – what do I do
The roster is placed on the website and in the operations room, and a copy will be with Glen
Nicholls, Karen Herrmann and Deborah Engeler. You can not change people mid‐event so when the
event for a specific age group finishes you can changeover if rostered on. Check in and sign on for
duty, collect your duty badge so you can be recognised as being permitted to be on the field, and go
to your allocated event. The location of each field event is listed in the front of the program.
Note: Coaching during an event
Please note that if you are assisting at an event you can not speak to your child or provide advice to
the athletes on how to do the event. That is considered to be coaching and you child will be
penalised. You can only call out encouragement from behind the fenced area/s.
My son/daughter has qualified for Region, what do I do now
If your child (U8‐U17 age groups) finishes in the top 6 they will qualify for the Region Championships
to be held at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track on 16 th and 17th February 2013. If you have qualified
please notify Helen Nisbet (Registrar). Qualifiers will be provided with a souvenir shirt from Illawong.
Under 7’s do not go to Region ‐ the top 3 place getters will receive medals on the day.
My son/daughter has qualified for Region but we can not attend – what do we do
If you know you are not available for Region (16 th and 17 th Feb 2013) and your child has qualified you
will need to fill in a withdrawal from competition form on the day. This is usually available from the
Zone Carnival Information Officer. It is important that you fill this in as soon as possible after
completion of the event so the next person can be notified that they have qualified in your place.
How do I lodge a protest
All protests need to be lodged by the team manager , Karen Herrmann (0433 116 859). If Karen is
not available see Glen Nicholls or Deborah Engeler. In the first instance speak to one of these
Illawong contact people to ensure that you have a valid protest. Protests must be lodged within 30
minutes of the completion of the event along with a $50 protest fee. If the protest is upheld you
will get the $50 back. If it is dismissed you will lose the $50. This fee is in place to stop frivolous
protests from holding up carnival proceedings. You can not lodge a counter protest if you do not like
the outcome.
Please do not leave the carnival area as soon as you have finished your track events.
There is a 30 minute period allowed where protests can be lodged and there have been
instances in the past that a track event has had to be re‐run. If you have left the area you
will miss out.
