Abbey pool goes to the planners<br />

THE long-awaited revamp of the Abbey<br />

Stadium has moved another step closer to<br />

reality.<br />

Plans for the new-look stadium were<br />

lodged with the <strong>Council</strong> last month. They<br />

are expected to go before Planning<br />

Committee later this spring.<br />

If all goes to plan Abbey Stadium will be<br />

home by early 2012 to a new 25-metre,<br />

All aboard the swim bus<br />

RESIDENTS of Astwood Bank, Crabbs Cross<br />

and Feckenham can get in the swim<br />

thanks to a new <strong>Council</strong> bus service.<br />

The free Swim Bus hit the road at the end<br />

of February and is aimed at people who<br />

want to swim, but have difficulty getting to<br />

Hewell Road Swimming Pool.<br />

The service is funded by the Amateur<br />

Swimming Association.<br />

The return service runs on Friday evenings.<br />

The exterior of the current gym and court<br />

facilities will be re-faced to blend in with<br />

the new pool design<br />

Work on a new sports hall floor was due<br />

to be completed at the time of<br />

It leaves Feckenham Village Hall at 6pm,<br />

stopping at Evesham Road Post Office at<br />

6.10pm, Astwood Bank First School at<br />

6.15pm and the chemists at Crabbs Cross<br />

at 6.20pm, reaching the pool at 6.30pm.<br />

The return journey leaves the pool at 8pm.<br />

The bus service is available to residents of<br />

Astwood Bank, Crabbs Cross and<br />

Feckenham who must pre-register to use it.<br />

This can be done by calling the <strong>Council</strong>’s<br />

Sports Development Unit on (01527) 64676.<br />

Teens get active<br />

FITNESS sessions specially tailored for<br />

teenagers have been launched at<br />

two of the <strong>Council</strong>’s sports centres.<br />

Teen Gym sessions aimed at 14 and<br />

15-year-olds are up and running at<br />

Arrow Vale Sports and Leisure Centre<br />

and at the Abbey Stadium.<br />

Young people can sign up for only £12<br />

per month, which gives them use of<br />

two fitness suites, free squash and<br />

badminton at selected times and<br />

discounted exercise classes<br />

appropriate to their age range.<br />
