Abbey pool goes to the planners
THE long-awaited revamp of the Abbey
Stadium has moved another step closer to
reality.
Plans for the new-look stadium were
lodged with the Council last month. They
are expected to go before Planning
Committee later this spring.
If all goes to plan Abbey Stadium will be
home by early 2012 to a new 25-metre,
All aboard the swim bus
RESIDENTS of Astwood Bank, Crabbs Cross
and Feckenham can get in the swim
thanks to a new Council bus service.
The free Swim Bus hit the road at the end
of February and is aimed at people who
want to swim, but have difficulty getting to
Hewell Road Swimming Pool.
The service is funded by the Amateur
Swimming Association.
The return service runs on Friday evenings.

facilities will be re-faced to blend in with
the new pool design
Work on a new sports hall floor was due
to be completed at the time of
going to press.
It leaves Feckenham Village Hall at 6pm,
stopping at Evesham Road Post Office at
6.10pm, Astwood Bank First School at
6.15pm and the chemists at Crabbs Cross
at 6.20pm, reaching the pool at 6.30pm.
The return journey leaves the pool at 8pm.
The bus service is available to residents of
Astwood Bank, Crabbs Cross and
Feckenham who must pre-register to use it.
This can be done by calling the Council’s
Sports Development Unit on (01527) 64676.
Teens get active
FITNESS sessions specially tailored for
teenagers have been launched at
two of the Council’s sports centres.
Teen Gym sessions aimed at 14 and
15-year-olds are up and running at
Arrow Vale Sports and Leisure Centre
and at the Abbey Stadium.
Young people can sign up for only £12
per month, which gives them use of
two fitness suites, free squash and
badminton at selected times and
discounted exercise classes
appropriate to their age range.
