Sisterhood Scoop:
Membership News and Upcoming Events
We hope everyone had a
wonderful Pesach. Thanks to
those of you who attended the
Miriam’s Cup craft. All of the
painted cups turned out so
nicely and we hope they were
well received at the Seder table.
A special thanks to Marianne
Glanzman for pulling it all
together and Ann Fackenthall
for her wonderful reading of
the story of Miriam. I think the
day was enjoyed by all.

The year is winding down,
and we want to remind those
of you who are not members of
Sisterhood, that there is still
time to become a member.
Our next big event is our
annual Donor Dinner on
Sunday, June 22, which is
being hosted by Ruth Goldman
and Doreen Dworkin. It will
include a “tea” luncheon, along
with instruction on how to
make fresh flower
arrangements. This is a
wonderful event but
unfortunately is open to
Sisterhood members only.
Additional information will be
sent out shortly.
We again would also like
to remind everyone who is
interested in donating to Torah
Fund, to make a check out to
Torah Fund and send it to
Sisterhood. We cannot accept
checks made out to Sisterhood.
Remember that Torah Fund
supports the students and
programs of the Jewish
Theological Seminary. Thank
you to everyone who has
donated so far.
If you are interested
in getting involved with
sisterhood next year or
have any fresh ideas,
please let us know. We
would love to hear from
you.
Lastly, the Gift Gallery
is looking for someone
who might be interested
in taking on the role of
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
consultant. If you are
interested in finding out
more about this exciting

a Miriam’s Cup.
Hannah Herrera
Bat Mitzvah
May 17, 2008
Hannah Herrera will be called
to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah
on May, 17. Hannah is a 7th
Grade honors student at Strath
Haven Middle School.
Hannah’s main interests are
piano, soccer, cooking and
reading. She has taken piano
lessons since age 5, and she
currently plays travel soccer,
which she enjoys very much.
Last year, Hannah and a few
friends organized an antibullying
project at their school.
This, along with raising over
$1,000 last spring for Relay for
Life, are all parts of her mitzvah
project.
Hannah has always
enjoyed her religious
education and plans to
continue it. She has a special
sensitivity to and interest in the
Holocaust, and has enjoyed
this year’s Mispallelim
emphasis on it. In general,
Hannah takes school very
seriously and is an outstanding
student.
Hannah is very thankful
to Rabbi Robbins, Cantor
Friedrich, and her dedicated
Hebrew school teachers for
helping bring about this
wonderful occasion.
