Men’s Club Minute
I hope everyone had an
enjoyable and meaningful
Passover holiday. Other than
the beginning of softball
season, April was a quiet
month for Men’s Club. Our
5 th season playing in the
Main Line Men’s Club Sunday
Morning Softball League
began with a respectable
showing, albeit a loss, against
one of the traditional league
powers, Young Israel. After a
two-week hiatus due to
Passover, the games will
resume again in earnest in
May. The team welcomes
new players Michael Yaros
and Marv Fackenthall. There
is still time to join in the fun
for any Ohev males 18 years
and older who are interested.

Looking ahead to May,
please mark your calendars
for Sunday, May 18. In the
morning Men’s Club will be
hosting the traditional
Mispallelim end of the school
year barbecue. Later that day
the Annual Men’s Club
bowling and dinner meeting
will take place. We will meet
at Sproul Lanes in Broomall
for bowling at 4:45 pm.
Dinner at a local restaurant
(still to be decided) will
follow. More information will
be forthcoming in the
synagogue weekly
announcements.

Phillies Baseball with Men’s Club
Join the Ohev Men’s Club as we trek down to the “Bank” to
see our defending NL East Division champs as they look to
advance even further in the playoffs this year. Starring for the
Phils on Jewish Heritage Night will be Brett Myerson, Cole
Hamelstein, Jimmy Robbins, Pat Burrelsky, Chase Utleythal,
and Ryan Howardman. See these star athletes (Jewish
players, at least for one night, anyway) lead our boys to a
win. You get to be with friends from our Ohev community
on a warm summer night at the beautiful ballpark. The date
is Thursday, August 21, 7 p.m. Many of the tickets have
already been reserved, so don’t delay. Call Brad Ernest at

If you take your family, your kids will surely name you

Youth News
AZA makes a comeback at
Ohev Shalom
In March, the Delco AZA
chapter of BBYO had its first
party of the year. Seven 8th
grade boys, six from the Ohev
area and one from Ner Tamid
in Broomall, attended. They
were joined by Guy Katz, an
11 th grader and head of new
membership for the
Philadelphia Region of AZA.
An amazing amount of food
was eaten, pool was played
and eventually, a consensus
was reached on a movie to
watch.
The next event will be a
joint one with the Delco BBG
(the girls) chapter. We have
already begun discussing
plans for a flag football team in
the fall.
Membership in the AZA
chapter is for boys starting in
January of 8 th grade through
12 th grade. Membership is
open to Jewish boys
regardless of synagogue
affiliation. There are
approximately three
conventions each year which
last for an entire weekend.
There are lots of other events
which happen throughout the
year. Some members may
choose to attend every event
possible, while others may
choose to be more selective.
