PAIiIZ Study Tour, Warsaw/Wroclaw, Poland<br />
August 28 – September 2, <strong>2011</strong><br />
In cooperation with <strong>WAIPA</strong>, the Polish<br />
Information and Foreign Investment<br />
Agency (PAIiIZ) organized a study<br />
tour which started with PAIiIZ,<br />
in Warsaw, sharing its general<br />
experience. This <strong>WAIPA</strong> Study Tour<br />
hosted participants from Moldova,<br />
Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Armenia,<br />
Tatarstan and Tadjikstan, who got<br />
acquainted with the Polish system of<br />
attracting investments in the field of<br />
Business Process Outsourcing.<br />
In Warsaw, the study tour included a<br />
meeting at the Poland’s Ministry of<br />
Economy, where the Undersecretary<br />
of State, H.E. Grażna Henclewska<br />
welcomed participants and presented<br />
trends concerning the Polish relations<br />
with CIS countries.<br />
During their stay in Poland, the<br />
group also visited Wrocław, where<br />
the Wrocław Agglomeration<br />
Development Agency (ARAW)<br />
organized meetings with Polish<br />
companies potentially investing<br />
abroad. Local champion firms such<br />
as Selena, Clarena, Impel, Rec<br />
Global, Hasco-Lek, TelForceOne<br />
and Toya ranked among the most<br />
successful companies now investing<br />
overseas. <strong>WAIPA</strong>-PAIiIZ guest<br />
IPAs also visited the Wroclaw<br />
Research Center EIT+, the largest<br />
R&D facility in Poland.<br />
In Wrocław participants also<br />
had a chance to take part in a<br />
seminar, spearheaded by <strong>WAIPA</strong>,<br />
where the IPAs learned the BPO<br />
sector fundamentals. Tholons,<br />
a consultancy firm specialized<br />
in services outsourcing made a<br />
presentation to participants. After<br />
the visit to Wrocław, the group<br />
returned to Warsaw, where they<br />
met with representatives from the<br />
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the<br />
Gospodarstwa Krajowego Bank. Most<br />
participants extended their travel on<br />
to Switzerland, Geneva, to join other<br />
IPAs attending the XVI <strong>WAIPA</strong> World<br />
Investment Conference <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
