Sibiului ofer\ un peisaj natural uimitor.

Beneficiile pe care le aduce titlul de Capital\ Cultural\ European\ sunt
de mai multe feluri. Sibiul va deveni un ora[ cunoscut, poate dup\ capitala
]\rii cel mai vizibil din Rom‚nia. Miz‚nd pe aceasta, suntem `ncredin]a]i
c\ vom atrage mai mul]i investitori spre Sibiu, care are deja faima unei
loca]ii economice bune, datorit\ unei zone industriale create `n 2003.
Infrastructura care s-a modernizat - drumuri, re]ele, transport public,
iluminat etc. - va r\m‚ne [i dup\ anul 2007 [i va `mbun\t\]i clar calitatea
vie]ii `n Sibiu.
~n al treilea r‚nd, vom atrage un num\r important
de turi[ti. Evalu\rile noastre sunt de 400.000-500.000
de turi[ti `n plus fa]\ de un an obi[nuit. ~n 2005, am
avut cam 350.000 de turi[ti. Ceea ce este mai important,
se creeaz\ premisele ca num\rul celor care vor
vizita Sibiul s\ creasc\ `n continuare, `n mod natural, [i

Sibiul este un ora[ care adun\ la un loc rigoarea
arhitecturii germane cu un [arm aproape mediteranean.

transilvane, care era, `n acela[i timp, [i un centru al
artelor [i culturii.
Centrul istoric, de un farmec deosebit, al\tur\

Rena[tere p‚n\ la baroc [i Jugendstil. Cine se plimb\
prin centrul vechi vede `n jur o adev\rat\ cronic\ a
celor opt secole de istorie a ora[ului. Aceasta este
„perla“ ora[ului, dar ve]i descoperi [i loca]ii care
vibreaz\ de tinere]e [i locuri moderne sau inedite `n
care s\ v\ bucura]i de [ederea `n Sibiu.

are preparing a warm welcoming for tourists, a unique urban landscape

HOW MANY TOURISTS ARE YOU EXPECTING IN SIBIU
The benefits the titleof European Cultural Capital are of many kinds.
Sibiu will become a well-known city, maybe the most visible city of
Romania after the country’s capital. Putting our stakes on this grown visibility,
we are sure we will attract more investors to Sibiu, which already
has the fame of good economic location due to the industrial area that
was created in 2003. The modernized infrastructure - roads, networks,
public transport, illumination and so on - all these will remain after 2007
and will improve the life quality in Sibiu.
Thirdly, we will attract a significant number of
tourists. Our evaluations are of 400,000-500,000
tourists in comparison with the usual years. In 2005,
we had around 350,000 tourists. What is important is
that the establishment of the premises that will make
the number of tourists in Sibiu to continue to grow
naturally even after 2007.

ATTRACTION IN SIBIU
The entire historical center is a point of attraction,
but I am sure the tourists will want to see the Grand
Square, the Council Tour, the Bridge of Lies and the
Small Square, the Brukenthal Museum and the Stairs’
Passage. Besides these I am sure the entrenched
churches surrounding Sibiu will be of interest for the
tourists. If I were subjective, I would recommend the
baroque building of the Brukenthal College, a place I
visit with pleasure every time.

WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT TO ME
Sibiu is a city that combines the precision of the
German architecture with an almost Mediterranean
charm. Sibiu still keeps the three-century old image
of the riches and most influential of the seven
Transylvanian citadels, which was in the same time a
center of arts and culture.
The historical center, of a special charm, combines
buildings of different periods and styles - from
Gothic and Renaissance to baroque and Jugendstil.
Who walks down the historical center sees a real
chronicle of the city’s eight centuries of history. This
is the city’s „pearl,“ but here you will discover locations
that vibrate with youth and modern or unusual
places where to enjoy your staying in Sibiu.
