BridgePro took delivery of a <strong>Movax</strong> SG-60V Side-Grip vibrator<br />
and an IH-25D <strong>pile</strong> hammer <strong>in</strong> January <strong>in</strong> Tasmania,<br />
Australia. BridgePro is a specialist bridge c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong><br />
c<strong>on</strong>tractor specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> precast modular bridges with<br />
spans between 6 and 21m. With the purchase of the pil<strong>in</strong>g<br />
equipment they have created a sister company called<br />
PilePro better reflect<strong>in</strong>g the new bus<strong>in</strong>ess opportunities<br />
created by the vibrator and hammer.<br />
The comb<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> of the SG-60V vibrator and IH-25D<br />
hammer was chosen after an extensive worldwide<br />
search to f<strong>in</strong>d the most versatile and productive pil<strong>in</strong>g<br />
system to complement their <strong>in</strong>novative precast bridge<br />
system. With jobs generally small <strong>in</strong> size and transport<br />
a key c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong>, the relative light weight of the two<br />
attachments and suitability to operate off a moderately<br />
sized excavator made the comb<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> the right choice.<br />

BridgePro director commented they have had a lot of<br />
experience with excavator mounted hammers and f<strong>in</strong>d<br />
the functi<strong>on</strong>ality, simplicity and relative lightweight nature<br />
of the IH-25D to be of significant advantage over<br />
alternatives. It seamlessly <strong>in</strong>tegrates with the <strong>Movax</strong><br />
computer and provides the operator essential feedback<br />
<strong>on</strong> the impact energy be<strong>in</strong>g applied.<br />
For bridge and other structural foundati<strong>on</strong>s, the ability<br />
to drive the <strong>pile</strong> <strong>in</strong>to harder layers and ‘hit’ the <strong>pile</strong> to<br />
dem<strong>on</strong>strate load capacity is essential. Once the <strong>pile</strong> is<br />
stood and vibrated to refusal, they are able to attach<br />
the impact hammer, and c<strong>on</strong>t<strong>in</strong>ue to drive the <strong>pile</strong> to<br />
the required structural capacity.<br />

Kerala, India 2013<br />
Sheet <strong>pile</strong> <strong>cofferdams</strong> <strong>in</strong> Periya river <strong>in</strong> Kerala<br />
Marymatha C<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> company has secured a job for<br />
c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> of regulator-cum-bridge <strong>on</strong> Periyar river <strong>in</strong><br />
Indian state of Kerala. Dur<strong>in</strong>g high tide the water level<br />
<strong>in</strong> sea rises and because of this the sea water starts<br />
flow<strong>in</strong>g back <strong>in</strong>to river. New structure will permit c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />
over the water flow to the river. This project is go<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
be helpful <strong>in</strong> solv<strong>in</strong>g some envir<strong>on</strong>mental and potable<br />
water issues and scarcity of water for agriculture <strong>in</strong><br />
places adjacent to the bridge.<br />
C<strong>on</strong>tractor has to c<strong>on</strong>struct a two-lane bridge of 7.50<br />
metre each side and a regulator at a length of 180 metres<br />
across the river. The project <strong>in</strong>cludes three <strong>sheet</strong><br />
<strong>pile</strong> <strong>cofferdams</strong> <strong>in</strong> stages of 60 m each for dewater<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Kerala based Marymatha purchased a <strong>Movax</strong> SP-50F<br />
Side-Grip vibro for c<strong>on</strong>struct<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>cofferdams</strong>. Sheet<br />
<strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> of 8 to 12 M length are <strong>driven</strong> with the Side-Grip<br />
<strong>sheet</strong> <strong>pile</strong>r <strong>on</strong> JCB 210 excavator mounted <strong>on</strong> a barge<br />
to allow operati<strong>on</strong> across the river.<br />
The works are likely to be completed <strong>in</strong> two years.<br />

Poland´s first SG-60 series <strong>Movax</strong> <strong>pile</strong> driver was delivered<br />
to Bialystok based company called Hydrobud. It<br />
has been first put <strong>in</strong>to work at bridge renovati<strong>on</strong> site.<br />
Renovati<strong>on</strong> of the bridge over Krzywe Lake <strong>in</strong> Suwalki<br />
demanded 16 number of tubular <strong>steel</strong> <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> with end<br />
caps <strong>driven</strong> 24 metres <strong>in</strong>to the lake bed. The <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> were<br />
re<strong>in</strong>forced with c<strong>on</strong>crete to create solid and l<strong>on</strong>g last<strong>in</strong>g<br />
base for the renewed bridge.<br />

Sheet <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> for fuel tank <strong>in</strong>stallati<strong>on</strong><br />
Installati<strong>on</strong> of a new fuel tank at a petrol stati<strong>on</strong> near<br />
Gothenburg city required <strong>sheet</strong> <strong>pile</strong>d cofferdam. The<br />
<strong>sheet</strong> <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> were <strong>driven</strong> to bed rock, so the length of<br />
the <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> varied. Work was carried out with <strong>Movax</strong><br />
Side-Grip <strong>sheet</strong> <strong>pile</strong>r fitted <strong>on</strong> to Volvo 240 excavator<br />
that is also equipped with a Power Pack. Sheet pil<strong>in</strong>g<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tractor <strong>in</strong> this c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> project was Trailer Bengt.<br />

centre<br />
Library build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Gothenburg city centre was enlarged<br />
In 2012. At the c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> site <strong>sheet</strong> <strong>pile</strong>d reta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
wall was made with 150 number of <strong>sheet</strong>s of which<br />
most of were taken away as the build<strong>in</strong>g proceeded.<br />
Small porti<strong>on</strong> of the <strong>sheet</strong> <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> were left as supportive<br />
structure <strong>in</strong> the middle of the c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> site. Ma<strong>in</strong><br />
c<strong>on</strong>tractor for the project was Aarsleff AB . Sheet pil<strong>in</strong>g<br />
work was completed by Niklas Sivenmark company<br />
with <strong>Movax</strong> SP70 F4 <strong>on</strong> Hitachi 350, length of the<br />
<strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> were 8-10 metres. Pre-cast c<strong>on</strong>crete <strong><strong>pile</strong>s</strong> that<br />
formed actual foundati<strong>on</strong> for the build<strong>in</strong>g were <strong>driven</strong><br />
by Junttan hammer.<br />
