MEFENIDE ACETATE:<br />

It is available <strong>in</strong> a 10% water-soluble cream or a 5%<br />

solution . It is effective ,especially aga<strong>in</strong>st all stra<strong>in</strong>s<br />

of Pseudomonas aerug<strong>in</strong>osa. The water-soluble<br />

cream is applied to the wound like “butter”. The<br />

region is left exposed for maximal antibacterial<br />

efficiency. The cream is applied twice daily and<br />

replaced if it is rubbed off between treatments.<br />

The 5% solution is applied <strong>in</strong> a saturated gauze<br />

dress<strong>in</strong>g and changed every eight hours.<br />
