INDICATIONS<br />

<strong>Burns</strong> of the dorsum of the hand that by cl<strong>in</strong>ical<br />

estimate will not heal with<strong>in</strong> three weeks are<br />

ideally handled by this technique. Chances of<br />

early functional recovery are enhanced.<br />

Full thickness burns of limited extent i.e. upto 5%<br />

of TBS area treated by this method shorten<br />

hospital stay and lead to early return to preburn<br />

functional status.<br />

In patients with massive burn <strong>in</strong>jury this method<br />

helps reduce the burn size to a total body surface<br />

area, which is more compatible with survival.
