Drawbacks of enzymatic debridement may be
listed as follows:
This method increases the risk of bacterial
invasion of tissue and consequently of septicemia.
Some agents are over active and damage normal
tissue and cause bleeding and fluid loss from the
wound.
Some agents leave a thin layer of necrotic tissue
on the wound on which skin graft will not take.
