CONTACT PLATES:
It involves the contact of the culture media with area
of the wound to be studied.
Contact plates provide quantitative information and
when selective media are used, can produce
qualitative information as well.
The use of contact plates as quantitative test for
bacterial assay of burn wound is limited because of
the confluent growth of the bacteria on it after its
application to moist burn areas. Furthermore contact
plates take more time to give results and do not
sample the subescharspace.
