the areas of History, English, Spanish,
Religious Studies, and Math. One senior even did two
projects! Founded in 1998, SHPʼs Independent Honors
Program for Seniors provides the opportunity for highly
self-motivated students to deeply examine intellectual issues.
Each honors student was responsible for seeking out mentors outside
the SHP community to assist in their research. This year, the
mentors included such scholars as:
• Dr. David Kennedy: Professor of History
at Stanford University; Awarded the
Poetry
Pulitzer Prize in History in 2000
Heritage Oak Falls
At 7:30am on Sunday,
January 15, 2006, the
magnificent heritage oak in
front of the Main Building
fell. The tree was uprooted
due to heavy rainfall over the
previous month. Thankfully,
it fell towards the McGanney
Center, only knocking
down a smaller palm tree.
There was no damage to the
Main Building and no one
was hurt.
