the grate may facilitate firing; however, it should be noted that this supply of air may cause<br />

temporary sooting of both stones and glass.<br />

In order to build up an insulating layer of ash in the bottom of the stove, you should burn approx.<br />

2 kg of dry kindling when you light the stove the first time. Always keep approx. 1 cm<br />

ash in the bottom of the firebox.<br />

1.<br />

A layer of embers will form rapidly if the stove is lit<br />

using 2-4 firelighters or 7-10 scrunched-up sheets<br />

of newspaper underneath approx. 2 kg of dry kindling.<br />

2.<br />

Open the secondary air supply as much as possible<br />

– the upper control.<br />

3.<br />

Once the paper/firelighters are alight, leave the fire<br />

door ajar 5-10 cm so that the chimney draws well.<br />

4.<br />

When you can see that the chimney is sufficiently<br />

hot to draw air up through the stove (after 5-10<br />

minutes), close the door. If all the necessary conditions<br />

are met, a thick layer of burning embers will<br />

have formed in the firebox after another 15-20 minutes.<br />
