• Develop high levels of understanding, pride and commitment to<br />
our shared vision as a diverse, inclusive and caring community of<br />
learners.<br />
• Implement the School Wide (Respect) Project to manage learning<br />
relationships founded upon student voice, student leadership and<br />
student ownership.<br />
• Develop inquiry based approaches to both teaching and learning.<br />
This will involve evidence based teaching including the input of<br />
students and aligning curriculum delivery structures to 21st<br />
Century pedagogy.<br />
• Develop a learning culture to a learning culture where pathways<br />
are clear and students are mentored to achieve their goals.<br />
• To increase the numbers of students gaining merit and excellence<br />
grades in external and standarised assessments.<br />
• Fully integrate the New Zealand Curriculum into all aspects of<br />
our school curriculum to ensure a holistic, adaptive and relevant<br />
curriculum.<br />
• Students and staff will acknowledge and celebrate the cultural<br />
diversity of our school and will develop our bi-cultural practice<br />
and understanding through formal school occasions and through<br />
curriculum delivery.<br />
• Whanau groups will promote highly effective relationships and<br />
learning partnerships to enhance the learning culture of our school.<br />
• The community will become increasingly engaged with our school<br />
through the Sports Council, AEL, PTA and the whanau group. We<br />
will be identified as a community school.<br />
• Involvement in sport, cultural and co-curricular activities will afford<br />
important learning opportunities and promote the attributes for<br />
young people to self manage, relate effectively with others and<br />
participate and contribute to our learning community.<br />
• Experiential and authentic learning opportunities will engage<br />
learners in vocational, business, environmental and social skill<br />
activities and understanding.<br />
• Teachers will contribute to the direction and the ongoing<br />
improvement of our school through their participation and<br />
contribution to Professional Learning Groups.<br />
• Raise levels of engagement and achievement of Maori students.<br />
• To ensure that the children and staff of the Special Needs Unit<br />
are fully included in our School.<br />
