Class C <strong>MG</strong> <strong>Metro</strong> Turbo - <strong>The</strong> standard production exhaust manifold must<br />

be retained. It is permitted to modify the manifold to match the ports in<br />

the cylinder head. <strong>The</strong> outlet pipe may exit through or below the body left<br />

hand sill not more than 650mm forward of the rear wheel centre.<br />

5.7a.7 IGNITION SYSTEMS<br />

Any Rover ‘A’ series production distributor is permitted, with the curve<br />

modified to provide the optimum advance required. It must remain in its<br />

original position. <strong>The</strong> vacuum advance may be disconnected or removed.<br />

Ignition coils, spark plugs and HT leads may be of any type or manufacturer.<br />

<strong>The</strong> coil may be relocated.<br />

Electronic systems are permitted. Apart from simple rev-limiters and shift<br />

lights, all electronic engine management aids are prohibited.<br />

5.7a.8 FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEMS<br />

Fuel pumps, filters and pressure regulators may be of any type or<br />

manufacturer.<br />

Unless continuous metal lines are fitted, braided hose with screw connections<br />

are mandatory. Fuel lines must be adequately protected and clipped within<br />

the drivers compartment.<br />

Class C <strong>MG</strong> <strong>Metro</strong> Turbo and Class C <strong>MG</strong> <strong>Metro</strong> 1380cc - It is permitted<br />

to route the fuel lines through the vehicle, subject to MSA regulation J5.13.<br />

Class C <strong>MG</strong> <strong>Metro</strong> Turbo - A fuel cooler (air radiator only) may be fitted.<br />

5.7b ENGINE - ROVER METRO/100 – K SERIES<br />

This must be the standard production K series unit for each class to the<br />

original manufacturers specification, with the following permitted/prohibited<br />

modifications.<br />

5.7b.1 PERMITTED MODIFICATIONS<br />

All engines must retain the standard production cylinder block, cylinder head,<br />

crankshaft, camshaft, con rods, pistons, valves, valve springs and all other<br />

standard production parts for the relevant engine capacity, except where<br />

stated elsewhere. Cylinder head may be skimmed. Gaskets, oil pump,<br />

oil filter and drive belts may be from any manufacturer.<br />

Rover <strong>Metro</strong> (all) - <strong>The</strong> only permitted engine is the 1.4 K-series (1397cc),<br />

i.e. bore 75.00mm and stroke 79.00mm.<br />

5.7b.1.1 Class A Rover <strong>Metro</strong>/100 – 1397cc 8 Valve, Carburettor<br />

Version<br />

Cylinder head must be standard production 1400cc 8V with standard valves<br />

inlet 34mm, exhaust 31mm – no material may be removed from the ports<br />

but combustion chamber can be machined/polished to regulate compression<br />

ratio.<br />

Camshaft must be the standard production item with maximum 9.0mm<br />

lift/240 degree duration.<br />
