Overall Appearance: Project is of poor quality and<br />

appearance. Project isn’t clean or neat.<br />

Workmanship: Project is poorly constructed, pieces<br />

are missing, stray marks are evident, no time<br />

was taken on the project display.<br />

Finish: Projects aren’t finished or little time was<br />

taken to carefully apply the appropriate finish.<br />

DIVISION A<br />

GRAIN<br />

Class 1 - Corn. Production of one thousandth of an<br />

acre of corn plus information on production<br />

practices used.<br />

Class 2 - Oats. One quart of any variety grown in<br />

2011 labeled as to variety.<br />

Class 3 - Soybeans. Three plants with roots tied in<br />

a bundle.<br />

Class 4 - Wheat. One quart of any variety grown in<br />

2011.<br />

Class 5 - Hay, any type, 3 pounds.<br />

NOTE: Hay MUST be tied and exhibited in either<br />

a cardboard or wooden box. Suggested size of box,<br />

4 inches by 18 inches by 22 inches. The exhibitor<br />

must supply the box.<br />

Class 4 – Woodworking exhibits over $51 in cost.<br />

Class 5 – Metal or other shop exhibit up to $20 in<br />

cost.<br />

Class 6 – Metal or other shop exhibit $21 to $35 in<br />

cost.<br />

Class 7 – Metal or other shop exhibit $36 to $50 in<br />

cost.<br />

Class 8 – Metal or other shop exhibit over $51 in<br />

Class 9 – Refurbished tractor. Premium, $7.00<br />

Class 10 – Refurbished other woodworking, metal,<br />

DIVISION D<br />

PROJECT STORY<br />

Class 1 – Project Story Poster (consists of a poster<br />

with 4-6 pictures with captions, telling the story<br />

of SAE project or FFA activity on a 22x28<br />

poster board.) Captions must be typed with<br />

40-60 words each. Premium $2.00<br />

• Best of Show plaques for FFA grains and horticulture,<br />

woodworking and other will be given by<br />

DEPARTMENT V HIGH SCHOOL<br />

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES<br />

family and consumer science teachers<br />

Judging - 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 3<br />

RULES:<br />

1. Entries are open to any student enrolled in vocational<br />

family and consumer science departments<br />

in the schools of Hardin County.<br />

2. Students enrolled for the second semester<br />

classes may exhibit if they have previously<br />

completed a vocational family and consumer<br />

science class.<br />

3. Each student will be allowed one exhibit in<br />

each class.<br />

4. All exhibitors must select articles from projects<br />

or other supervised work.<br />

5. Each teacher determines closing time for entries<br />

and exhibits for the school. A blanket entry,<br />

made by the teacher, covers all exhibits<br />

from that school.<br />

6. Judges will assign the exhibitors in each class<br />

an A, B and C grade according to the merit of<br />

the exhibit. Teachers will grade machine<br />

stitched projects and educational projects<br />

with A, B, or C grade and ribbon.<br />

7. Each teacher must be present to release exhibits<br />

at 7:00 p.m. on the last day of the fair.<br />

8. Each school will be responsible for assigned<br />

booth area under the advisory of the department<br />

chairman who is in charge of all general<br />

arrangements.<br />

9. No article can be exhibited a second time at<br />

the Hardin County Fair.<br />

10. Exhibits are to be in place before judging begins.<br />

DIVISION A<br />

HIGH SCHOOL<br />

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE<br />

Class 1 - Machine stitched projects – stuffed animals,<br />

clothing, aprons, Christmas stockings,<br />

etc. - each exhibit will receive $2.00<br />

Class 2 - Baked goods - quick breads, yeast<br />

breads, cookies, cupcakes. 3 pieces per plate<br />

or an appropriate sample. Each exhibit will<br />

receive $1.00<br />

Class 3 - Handicrafts - hobbies, handstitched<br />

needlework, handicrafts as defined by the<br />

teachers and completed in class or as an FC-<br />

CLA project. Each exhibit will receive $1.00<br />

Class 4 - Snacks – 3 pieces on a plate or an appropriate<br />

sample of candy, dried fruit, granola<br />

or cereal based product, no bake cookies, etc.<br />

Each exhibit will receive $1.00<br />

Class 5 - Canned fruit, vegetables, jellies and/or<br />

jams - exhibits may be in pints, half-pints,<br />

quarts or jelly glasses. Each exhibit will receive<br />

$1.00<br />

Class 6 - Educational projects – economic, family<br />

parenting, career, self-esteem, health or<br />

nutrition projects etc. Projects must have<br />

been supervised by teacher and exemplify<br />

emphasis of curriculum and classroom or action<br />

projects. Each exhibit will receive $1.00<br />
