JUNIOR <strong>FAIR</strong> BUILDING AND<br />

JUNIOR <strong>FAIR</strong> EXHIBITS<br />

Regulations:<br />

1. Entries are open to regularly enrolled high<br />

school agricultural education students. Maximum<br />

age limit is that a boy or girl must not<br />

have passed his or her 19th birthday on January<br />

1, of the current year. All entries must be a<br />

part of the students’ agricultural education program.<br />

2. Each student will be allowed one exhibit in each<br />

class unless otherwise stated. Students may enter<br />

more than one item in Division C, Class 1, 2<br />

and 3. The maximum number of entries by one<br />

exhibitor in each division is 3.<br />

3. ADVANCE ENTRIES MUST BE MADE IN ALL JU-<br />

NIOR <strong>FAIR</strong> CLASSES. ENTRIES CLOSE AU-<br />

GUST 16, 5:00 P.M. Please inform Anna<br />

Creswell of any large projects that would need<br />

special consideration for display and/or judging.<br />

4. Judges will divide the exhibits in each class into<br />

A, B and C groups according to the merit of the<br />

exhibit and each exhibitor will receive a ribbon<br />

of that grade.<br />

5. No article can be exhibited a second time at the<br />

Hardin County Fair.<br />

6. All exhibits must be in place between 11:00 A.M.<br />

and 4:00 P.M., Monday, September 2.<br />

7. Exhibits are released at 7:00 P.M. Sunday and<br />

must be removed by 9:00 P.M.<br />

8. Rosettes will be awarded to the top exhibition in:<br />

a. Grain and Horticulture<br />

b. Woodworking – Farm Shop<br />

c. Other – Farm Shop<br />

9. No group projects.<br />

Judging – Monday September 2 at 4:00 p.m.<br />

PREMIUMS:<br />

Grain and Horticulture Awards: $2 per exhibit,<br />

A, B, C ribbons. Farm Shop and Project Story<br />

Awards: as listed, A, B, C ribbons.<br />

• In order to receive an A, a project is graded on<br />

the following criteria:<br />

Requirements: Project follows the display, size and<br />

amount guidelines set in the Official Fair Premium<br />

Book.<br />

Overall Appearance: Project is nicely displayed,<br />

neat and clean. Grain and horticulture projects<br />

are of good quality and uniform in size. Project<br />

stories use correct spelling, appropriate captions<br />

and are neatly constructed.<br />

Workmanship: Project is put together squarely; all<br />

pieces are attached correctly; all hardware is attached<br />

correctly; project has been sanded and<br />

stray marks removed; nails and screws have<br />

been countersunk. Project stories have all pictures<br />

and captions glued on securely and time<br />

has been taken on the project story. Not applicable<br />

to grain or horticulture projects.<br />

Finish: Finish is appropriate to the project (paint,<br />

stain, polyurethane) and applied neatly. Not applicable<br />

to grain projects, horticulture projects,<br />

or project stories.<br />

• Projects receiving a B are lacking in any one of<br />

the above areas:<br />

Requirements: Project may not follow one or more<br />

of the display guidelines.<br />

Overall Appearance: Project may not be neat,<br />

clean, of good quality, use correct spelling or<br />

make use of appropriate captions.<br />

Workmanship: Project may not be constructed cor-<br />
