since 1840, and we have come a long way since then.
In 1987 we became a State Owned Enterprise (SOE)
and today, New Zealand Post Group comprises of
several companies. With more than 950 stores in
our Retail network, we have the second largest retail
network in New Zealand with up to 700 000 people
visiting our stores every week. Over 150 of these
stores are franchises.
In 2002 we introduced our 100% Kiwi-owned banking
brand—Kiwibank, now helping over 600 000 Kiwis
with great value banking, everyday. Kiwibank is
available at more than 300 of our retail outlets, most
of which are open 7 days a week.
In 2006 and 2007, New Zealand Post made the top 25
list for “most trusted retailer” in the Readers Digest
New Zealand’s Most Trusted Brand survey. During
2008 Kiwibank won the prestigious Sunday Star-
Times CANNEX supreme award for Best Value Bank.
This is the third year running that we have received
this award, recognising that we offer the best value
banking in the New Zealand banking industry.

PostShop Kiwibank is our premium brand that Kiwis love
and trust. Our stores are designed to meet the everyday
needs of our communities, offering a wide range of
postal and financial services for personal and small
business needs.
Our stores are a ‘one-stop-shop’ for our customers,
providing them access to postal products and
services, bill payment services, agency services, and
great-value banking services all under one roof.
Our Vision going forward
We constantly strive to keep our customers coming
back to us so we can help them with their everyday
tasks. We are constantly looking at our range of
products and services, ensuring we develop our
people’s skills and resources, and ensuring that our
stores are located where Kiwis are shopping.

Different store types
Our PostShop Kiwibank franchise
options includes three different store
types, of varying size and complexity.
Referral Store
These stores offer our customers a range of postal
and everyday banking services and can exist within
a ‘host’ store (i.e. can be included with another
business for example a stationery store).
Assisted Application Store
These stores offer our customers a range of postal
and banking services, and can interview and accept
customer applications for our Kiwibank credit and
lending products. These stores may include a ‘host’
business as well as the PostShop Kiwibank area.
Approval Store
These stores are dedicated PostShop Kiwibank
stores. They can accept and approve the full range
of our products and services (including all Kiwibank
credit and lending applications).

Remuneration and contracts
Our remuneration model is designed to recognise the
importance of great customer experiences.
Our model includes 5 components to the way we
remunerate our franchisees: Product Margins,
Transaction Activity, Monthly Fees, Sales
Commissions and a quarterly Customer
Experience payment.

Franchisee obligations
To ensure our mutual success, we need our
franchisees to invest in their store periodically, as
well as meeting everyday costs. Our franchisees will
also need to personally operate the business (for a
minimum of 30 hours per week) and successfully
undergo relevant training to sell our products and
services.
Return on investment
We offer our franchisees the opportunity to share
the rewards of a PostShop Kiwibank franchise with
an uncapped revenue potential. Your return on
investment is determined by you — the more effort
you put in, the higher your returns may be.
