R. M. GOODERHAM BURSARY
APPLICATION FORM
SPONSORED AND ADMINISTERED BY THE CWB GROUP
The R. M. Gooderham Bursary was established by the Board of Directors of the CWB Group
to honour Mr. R. M. Gooderham, the first General Manager of the Canadian Welding Bureau
(a division of the CWB Group).
A maximum of ten (10) bursaries valued at $2,000.00 each are awarded annually to
qualifying students. The Bursary is granted to successful candidates with the intent to further
the welding and joining industry in Canada.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Complete and sign the Application Form and e-mail to the Program Coordinator at
your College along with your digital photograph and Letter of Introduction.
2. Instruct the Program Coordinator to include a copy of your most recent academic
transcript and a recommendation from a staff member with your submission.
3. Submissions are to be sent by your Program Coordinator to the CWB Group before
November 26 th , 2010 by e-mail to: hilary.barton@cwbgroup.org
4. Submissions to include the completed Application Form, Personal Letter of
Introduction, Digital photograph, copy of academic transcript, and a recommendation
from a staff member.
5. Applications will be evaluated using the following weighting:
Letter of Introduction Content: 60%
Academic Standing: 40%

SECTION 4 (Letter of Introduction)
Submit a Personal Letter of Introduction, which outlines your goals and ambitions related to your career in the
welding industry.
- Submit Letter of Introduction with the Application Form -
SECTION 5 (Staff Submission)
Include a brief submission from a staff member of your choice from the Institution relating to your activities in
welding and related courses. The staff member should provide the reason they think the individual is worthy of
consideration for the Bursary.
- Submit recommendation with the Application Form -
SECTION 6 (Photograph)
Submit a digital Photograph of yourself (size 4” x 6” – full front view of the face and shoulders) that can be used
in publications announcing winners of the Bursaries.
- Submit a digital Photograph of yourself with the Application Form -
SECTION 7 (Declaration)
I certify that this application form has been completed to the best of my knowledge and belief, and that the Letter
of Introduction is my own and unassisted. I also consent to the use of my name, institution, photograph and
Letter of Introduction in promotional material if I am awarded one of the Bursaries. (All other personal
information collected will be used only for the bursary application.)

Please forward this form together with your Letter of Introduction and digital photograph to your
Program Coordinator by e-mail as soon as possible.
Provide the Coordinator with a written notice to include a copy of your academic transcripts including
all current course marks with this application.
Your application package must be e-mailed and received by the CWB Group by November 26 th ,
2010. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.
