1- THE LAST DAYS OF TUVALU:
Tuvalu is an island with an enchanting name located in the Pacific Ocean.
Yet its inhabitants are threatened by rising sea levels and the first signs of
the drowning awaiting Tuvalu are already apparent.
2- STORMS ON CHINA:
Eighty kilometres to the northwest of Beijing, the inhabitants of
Longbaoshan are fighting to save their village that is being swallowed up
under the encroaching dust because of particularly bad sandstorms.
3- DEFORESTED AREAS OF SUMATRA:
Huge forest fires have devastated the entire Sumatra ecosystem, forcing the
Kubus who have always lived in the forest to flee deeper into the higher
regions of the jungle or to cities and the regions round about.
4- AFRICAN MONSOON:
In Mali, African monsoon rains are becoming rare, the Niger River is drying
up, and the Bozo fishermen are leaving the region to become nomads in
search of lakes that are large and deep enough to fish.
5- ANTARTICA IS MELTING:
During the past fifty years, temperatures in the Arctic have increased at
twice the rate of temperatures in the rest of the world. In Sachs Harbour is
a village of 200 Inuit where hunting and fishing are still the main activities.
Yet the environment is severely disrupted.
Cette collection aborde les principaux aspects des changements
climatiques : montée des océans, désertification, déforestation, fonte des
pôles et des glaciers, évènements climatiques extrêmes.
1- LES DERNIERS JOURS DE TUVALU :
Tuvalu, île du Pacifique au nom enchanteur, montre les premiers signes d'une
“noyade” assurée. Ses habitants sont menacés par la montée des océans.
2- TEMPETE SUR LA CHINE :
La lutte des habitants du village de Longbaoshan à 80 km au nord-ouest de Pékin
qui s'enlise inexorablement dans le sable en raison de l'amplification des tempêtes
de sable.
3- SUMATRA LES MOISSONS DU FEU :
Les gigantesques feux de forêt ont ravagé tout l'écosytème de Sumatra. Les
kubus, vivant dans la forêt depuis toujours, sont condamnés à fuir de plus en plus
profondément sur les hauteurs de la jungle ou à rejoindre les abords des villes.
4- NIGER UN FLEUVE A LA DERIVE :
Au Mali, les pluies de la mousson africaine se raréfient : le Niger s'assèche. Les
pêcheurs Bozo quittent les lieux pour devenir des nomades à la recherche de
plans d'eau suffisament grands et profonds pour pêcher.
5- COUP DE CHAUD SUR L'ARCTIQUE :
En cinquante ans, la température a augmenté deux fois plus vite dans l'Arctique
que dans le reste du monde. Dans les Territoires du Nord Ouest canadien, la
chasse et la pêche restent des activités indispensables, or tout est bouleversé…
