On behalf of Remy Millott, our Managing Director,<br />
and the rest of the management team, I am proud to<br />
present the souvenir brochure from the Twenty-First<br />
Annual <strong>Pinmar</strong> Yachtsman’s Golf Tournament.<br />
In view of the recent difficult economic conditions,<br />
we were very pleased indeed that we still had such<br />
fantastic support. The 332 players all but matched<br />
2008’s record and the 780 guests for the Prizegiving<br />
Dinner at the Casino was an all-time high - no doubt<br />
the spectacular Come Fly With Me show was<br />
an added attraction.<br />
Thanks to all our players, sponsors, volunteers and<br />
guests, and especially Awlgrip our co-sponsor, the<br />
tournament was another great success. The great<br />
generosity of all who took part meant we were able<br />
to raise another €38,000 for our various charities –<br />
not a record but, in the circumstances, still a fantastic<br />
total. On page 105 you can see where the money went.<br />
In addition to inviting all the players to the dinner as<br />
their guests, this year Awlgrip also sponsored the after<br />
party in the “Nineteenth Hole Nightclub” at the Casino.<br />
We are very grateful to all who made donations and<br />
also to all the volunteers (see page 86) and special<br />
thanks to Roger Horner of E3 Group and Richard<br />
Gardiner of Global Services - aka The Sisters of<br />
Perpetual Indulgence!<br />
Altogether the total raised on the course over the<br />
two days was a record €15,660 and that does not<br />
include the extra €800 we raised thanks to Ian Knight<br />
of Lighthouse Marine and Johnny Greenall of Sloane<br />
Helicopters and those who paid for a spectacular flight<br />
over the course and beyond.<br />
Thanks also to Ritchie Prior and Aron Garner for<br />
hosting the auction and to those generous sponsors<br />
who donated and bought the various items. Together<br />
they added another great sum to the charity fund.<br />
As every year, we want to make some changes so the<br />
2010 tournament will be held at Son Gual which is in<br />
the ‘Golf World’ top 100 courses in Europe. This is a<br />
stunning new golf course which many of you will not<br />
yet have had a chance to play although you may have<br />
seen it from the air as it’s near Palma airport.<br />
For the Prizegiving Dinner, we are going back to the<br />
Casino and Come Fly With Me, with, probably the finest<br />
living interpreter of Frank Sinatra, Chris Mann, back in<br />
the show. Our thanks to Mike Jones who, at very short<br />
notice, stepped in for a brilliant performance when<br />
Chris was ill this October.<br />
And finally a big thank you to International Yacht<br />
Register for sponsoring the Friday party at Wellies for<br />
all the travelling players.<br />

The Old Codgers<br />
At the very first <strong>Pinmar</strong> Golf Tournament in 1989,<br />
Mike and Tony Insull invited their father, Greg Insull,<br />
Tony’s father-in-law, Rus Greenaway and two good<br />
friends, Peter Yeo and Rob Sinclair to play,<br />
and the Old Codgers came into being.<br />
Their combined ages were 284 and they<br />
acquitted themselves well against their much<br />
younger competitors.<br />
Over the years we have lost three of them -<br />
Greg died in 2001, aged 86, Rob in 2005 at 91<br />
and Russ last year, 2009 at 85.<br />
Peter is still going strong and will be 90 in<br />
August 2010.<br />
