our Lord
her child-birth, and in the same mafiner also the death of
For the holy Ignatius, the disciple of the holy Apostles, said ;
Brit. Mus. Add. 14535. This volume begins with a treatise against the
Nestorians by some Monophysite writer ; see Wright's Catalogue p. 796 sq, Cureton
C. /. p. 359. Wright assigns this MS to the earher part of the ninth centuiy.
For the Ignatian quotations see Cureton C. I. pp. 219, 250, Wright p. 797.
They seem to be derived from various sources. Ephes. 19 has points of resemblance
with Timotheus, but these may be accidental. On the other hand it is not taken from
the Syriac Version (represented by SA). Rom. 6 is too short to admit of any inference.
Ephes. 1 8 is closely connected with the Syriac Version, for it renders tov
Trepi-:pT]jji.a.
(xravpov by adorat crucem ; but on the other hand it has one or two striking divergences,
e.g. it\uv with the Greek for vp-lv with the Syriac. The last passage which the
compiler quotes, as from Ignatius, is not found verbatim in any extant Ignatian
Epistle, but it may be a loose reminiscence of Smyrn. 9 6 riyuw;/ Mckovov vtto Geou
(3) Flerophoria [Anon. Syr.3].
