2010 2011
CLASSICAL SEASON

This is a city like no other.
A town built around rubber and steel and glass.
It’s hardworking. It’s industrial. It’s real.
But above all, it’s artistic. And at its heart is music.
This is the D.
And it’s from here that the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra draws their inspiration.
From every stage. Every eatery.
Every factory. Every gallery.
This is the fuel. The DSO creates the spark.
Together, it ignites the souls of all who
come to listen.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is proud to present
the 2010-2011 Classical Subscription season.
^ Inspiration comes from all over Detroit.
Violist Caroline Coade at the Russell Industrial Building.
Once an abandoned warehouse, it is now home to a thriving art community.
The season offers many classical favorites along
with lesser-known masterpieces and premieres.
One of the highlights next season is the Beethoven
Cycle — performances of all nine symphonies over a
three-week span. These works are a pinnacle for any
conductor and orchestra. This will be the first time
since 1977 that the DSO is undertaking these works
in such a concentrated way. We are pleased to
present this rare opportunity to experience the full
power of these masterpieces.
Please consider renewing your subscription today.
