CR12.124 CAMBRIDGE "HIGH" STREET - OUTCOMES OF COMMUNITY
CONSULTATION
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To report on the outcomes of the community feedback received on the concept design for
Cambridge "High" Street.
BACKGROUND:
At its meeting held on 28 February 2012 (CR12.1 refers), Council endorsed the Cambridge
High Street concept plans as suitable for community consultation.
Further artist's impressions were developed on the concepts, as well as some drafting
improvements, and the design was presented for community consultation, of which
submissions closed on 10 August 2012.
A summary outline of the concept design is included as an attachment for reference.
DETAILS:
Community Consultation
The community was invited to provide feedback on the concept design. This invitation
comprised:
• Advertisement in "The Post" newspaper;
• Meeting with Public Transport Authority and Department of Transport during concept
development;
• Direct mail and email to respondents to the West Leederville Planning and Urban
Design Study (WLPUDS); and
• Public Open Day held at Leederville Town Hall on Saturday, 30 June 2012.
Feedback was sought on the concept from mid June to 10 August 2012 taking school
holidays into consideration.
214 submissions were received. A report detailing these submissions is attached for
reference.
Discussion
1. Streetscape
A large proportion of the submissions (71 %) were in support of the proposed landscape
architecture for the streetscape.
