PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To present the minutes of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee (AIAC) meeting
held on Tuesday, 31 July 2012
BACKGROUND:
The Terms of Reference for the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee (AIAC) state that
the minutes of meetings are to be presented to Council so as to form part of the public
record of Council business. The Advisory Committee is constituted as a Council Committee
with an Elected Member as Chairperson
DETAILS:
The Minutes of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee held on Tuesday, 31 July
2012 are attached.
POLICY/STATUTORY IMPLICATIONS:
• Policy No. 2.1.2 - Access to Services and Facilities for People with Disabilities, their
families and carers.
• Policy No. 2.1.5 – Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee Terms of Reference.
• Disability Services Act (1993).
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no Financial Implications related to this report.
STRATEGIC DIRECTION:
The Disability Access and Inclusion Plan strongly supports a number of the business
philosophies of the Town’s 2009–2020 Strategic Plan, namely:-
• Community Centred;
• Sustainability, and;
• Enhanced Services.
It further supports a number of the Town’s priority areas:-
• Planning for your Community;
• Delivering our Services, and;
• Capacity to Delivery.
COMMUNITY CONSULTATION:
In accordance with Policy No. 1.2.11, community consultation is not required.
