COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY 28 AUGUST 2012 STRATEGIC DIRECTION: The Town's Strategic Plan 2009-2020 has specific outcome areas to strive for, namely:- Community - Quality service to meet identified community needs and expectations; - A safe community. COMMUNITY CONSULTATION: This matter has been assessed under the Town's Community Consultation Policy as "inform" with the objective "to provide the community with balanced and objective information to assist them in understanding the problem, alternatives and/or solutions" The proposed parking restrictions amendments are as a result of requests from adjoining property owners and residents and have been investigated and endorsed by the Town's Infrastructure and Ranger Services officers. COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY 28 AUGUST 2012 CR12.116 ALDERBURY STREET - KERBSIDE PARKING AMENDMENTS ADJACENT ALDERBURY RESERVE PURPOSE OF REPORT: To review kerbside parking restrictions in Alderbury Street adjacent to Alderbury Street Reserve from Lichendale Street/Meagher Drive to Oceanic Drive. BACKGROUND: In conjunction with the redevelopment of the Perry Lakes Stadium site, a number of traffic management initiatives have been implemented to the adjoining streets of the new subdivision on Alderbury Street. The section of Alderbury Street from Lichendale Street/Meagher Drive to Oceanic Drive will modified by the introduction of speed reducing plateaus and road width narrowing to create both active and passive reduced speed environment. The road narrowing has offered the opportunity to create a series of parking embayments opposite the residential properties adjacent to Alderbury Street Reserve. The construction plan was approved by Council in report CR11.126 October 2011. A copy of Plan E170 10 08 is included in the report attachment. DETAILS: When the construction works were approved in October 2011, no revised parking restrictions were addressed for Alderbury Street. The existing parking restrictions are:- 1. North and East side - "No Parking" with "No Stopping" at each road intersection for the full section between Lichendale Street and Oceanic Drive. 2. South and West side - "No Parking" restriction between Meagher Drive and Oceanic Drive adjacent to the Perry Lakes Reserve for the total length except 160 meters between house number 140/142 and the south side of Oakdale Street intersection opposite house number 146. Proposed Restrictions It is not proposed to amend existing parking restrictions on the North and East side of Alderbury Street between Lichendale Street and Oceanic Drive. On the South and Western sides of Alderbury Street between Meagher Drive and Oceanic Drive, it is proposed to remove all parking restrictions to the new embayed parking zones. These zones are detailed on plan E170 10 08 and highlighted in yellow in the report attachment. This proposal was endorsed at a public meeting of adjacent residents on 27 July 2011 and confirmed by a multi signature letter from adjacent residents on 28 July 2011.
