Lions Support Local Services<br />

In November the Lions Eye Care Niagara Inc., which includes members from<br />

Beamsville, <strong>St</strong>amford (Niagara Falls), <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong> and Jordan, generously<br />

donated $47,000 to purchase a DSAEK Instrument Set for the O.S.S. This<br />

new equipment boasts greater efficiency with less trauma and rapid healing<br />

time for corneal transplant patients. We thank the members of the Lions Eye<br />

Care Niagara Inc. for providing our local community with access to a state-ofthe-art<br />

procedure in Niagara.<br />

Mack Legacy Continues<br />

Throughout the years, the Mack Alumni Association has offered financial<br />

support to The SCGH <strong>Foundation</strong> totaling over $32,000. The Alumni's<br />

most recent donation enabled the purchase of a Portable Spirometer for the<br />

Respirology Department. This equipment is the most commonly used<br />

respiratory function test for assessing respiratory disease. The Association also<br />

donated a Dialysis Chair for effortless patient positioning and ultimate<br />

comfort. Thank you to our long time friends for their continued support.<br />

Art Donations Beautify SCG<br />

Georgina Finch recently donated 24 Trisha Romance Limited Edition Prints in<br />

memory of her father Walter N. Bradley, a<br />

life-long resident of <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong>. Georgina's<br />

collection is prominently displayed throughout<br />

the SCG and has made patients and visitors feel<br />

welcome. As a local artist, Trisha Romance has<br />

played an important role in our community's<br />

expression of pride. We are grateful to<br />

Georgina for this generous donation and for<br />

creating a more comforting environment for<br />

those in the hospital.<br />

DVD Systems Help Patients<br />

In October, Larry & June Zehr delivered 15 portable DVD Players and<br />

an assortment of DVDs for the Outpatient Oncology Unit at the SCG<br />

site. This donation was made in memory of June's parents, Eva &<br />

George Jedicki. The DVDs will help pass the time and provide hours of<br />

entertainment for Oncology patients as they receive treatment at the<br />

clinic.<br />

O.P.G. host Charity BBQ<br />

During a recent presentation, two Ontario Power Generation (O.P.G.)<br />

co-operative students presented the proceeds from a BBQ held at the<br />

Niagara Falls O.P.G. site totaling $500. Thank you for your support!<br />

Co-operative students Sal Alajek and Mike Merpaw were happy to<br />

organize, cook and serve their co-workers at a BBQ this summer.<br />

Hair-raising Success<br />

After a decade of industry leading<br />

service, Renaissance Salon and<br />

Estetica hosted a grand re-opening<br />

celebration in October. Guests<br />

enjoyed an exquisite afternoon of<br />

cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while<br />

touring the newly renovated salon,<br />

located on Ontario <strong>St</strong>reet in <strong>St</strong>.<br />

<strong>Catharines</strong>. The day concluded<br />

with a charity auction with<br />

proceeds totaling $4,500 toward<br />

Outpatient Oncology.<br />

Big Swing for Healthcare<br />

The <strong>General</strong> Contractors Association of Niagara Inc. were thrilled to<br />

donate proceeds from their 5th Annual Golf Tournament held at<br />

Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in September. This year's tournament raised<br />

an additional $25,000 to be directed toward the New Healthcare<br />

Complex.<br />
