The Board of Directors of Franklin Templeton Investment Funds (the “Company”) has approved the<br />
following changes to the current full and simplified prospectuses:<br />
Launch of new Funds of the Company<br />
FRANKLIN <strong>TEMPLETON</strong> <strong>INVESTMENT</strong> <strong>FUNDS</strong>—FRANKLIN GOLD AND PRECIOUS METALS FUND<br />
Investment Objective and Policies<br />
The Fund’s principal investment objective is capital appreciation. Its secondary objective is income.<br />
Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests principally its net assets in securities issued by gold<br />
and precious metals operation companies. Gold and precious metals operation companies include<br />
companies that mine, process, or deal in gold or other precious metals, such as silver, platinum and<br />
palladium, including mining finance and exploration companies as well as operating companies with<br />
long-, medium-, or short-life mines.<br />
The Fund principally invests in equity and/or equity-related securities such as common stocks, preferred<br />
stocks, warrants and convertible securities issued by gold and precious metals operation companies<br />
located anywhere in the world and across the entire market capitalization spectrum, including small-cap<br />
and medium-cap companies, as well as in American, Global and European Depositary Receipts.<br />
The base currency of the Fund is U.S. dollar.<br />
Investment Manager<br />
Franklin Advisers, Inc. has been appointed Investment Manager pursuant to an Investment Management<br />
Agreement dated April 30, 2010 entered into between the Company and Franklin Advisers, Inc.<br />

For Class A Shares, a maintenance charge of up to 0.50% per annum of the applicable average net asset<br />
value is deducted and paid to the Principal Distributor in order to compensate the Principal Distributor<br />
for any expenses incurred by it in connection with Shareholders liaison and administration of the Shares.<br />
