Logo Guidelines
The Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) logo
is the unique identifying institutional trademark of the
College, conveying a unified identity and image. The
logo reflects the character of the College and is easily
recognizable. It provides the backbone for a strong
visual presence and exhibits an image of excellence
and cohesiveness. There are other graphic icons which
are used at BRCC, but there is only one official BRCC
logo. Therefore, the logo must be used in a uniform and
consistent manner that reinforces the identity of BRCC.
First impressions of BRCC are usually gained from
its visual materials; opinions and attitudes about the
College are formed from them. These Logo Guidelines
address the proper usage of the BRCC logo. All
units of BRCC must adhere to the standards set forth
in these Guidelines. Exceptions to the Guidelines are
discouraged, and permission for any deviations must
be obtained from the Director of Public Relations.
The BRCC logo (as shown above) should be placed
on all BRCC publications and appear appropriately
proportioned. The logo should not be obscured or
diminished in any way. A viewer should be able to
identify the image as being representative of BRCC.
When used in conjunction with another graphic, there
should be spatial balance between the images, and
other graphic(s) should never replace the BRCC logo
as a sole identifying mark.
AUTHORIZED LOGO
The Baton Rouge Community College Logo is registered
with the U.S. Department of Trademarks and
Patents. Registration protects against the manufacture,
use, display, or sale of the logo without the expressed
consent of the College. For questions concerning the
use of the logo, contact the Office of Public Relations,
Governors Building, 5310 Florida Boulevard, Baton
Rouge, LA 70806.
Correctly Proportioned
The BRCC logo should appear on all correspondence,
publications, signage, advertising, merchandise, marketing
and public relations materials, and on anything
that the general public may view and identify with
BRCC. It should always appear on the front page of
BRCC publications – brochures, flyers, course schedules,
catalogs, etc. There are instances where the
official BRCC Seal should be used instead of the College
logo; usage of the BRCC Seal is addressed later
in these Guidelines.
The logo should be displayed in its entirety, never in
separate parts and never altered. It is not permissible
to change the typeface or alter the proportion or composition
of the logo.
S I Z E
The size of the logo can vary, but proportions must be
maintained. The minimum acceptable size of the official
logo is 3/32” tall by 3/8” long, the size used on
BRCC business cards. The BRCC logo is not to be
reproportioned or modified in any way other than as
mentioned in this publication.
Smallest Size Acceptable
C O LO R
The color version of the logo includes a red (PMS
185) arch and keystone. The words “baton rouge”
appear below the arch and keystone, in all lowercase
Helvetica Bold or Arial Bold typeface. The word “baton”
is in black, and the word “rouge” is in red (PMS
185). Just below the words “baton rouge” are the words
“COMMUNITY COLLEGE,” in all caps, flushed left,
in Helvetica Bold or Arial Bold typeface, and in black.
Black
The grayscale version of the BRCC logo is used in the
same way as the color logo, except that it is used whenever
copy is printed in either grayscale or black and
white. The logo must stand out against the background.
S PA C I N G
Adequate blank space must be left around the logo.
This is required for optimum recognition and readability.
No other graphic/image is to be placed proportionally
closer to the logo than 1/4” on all sides.
P L A C E M E N T
Since the BRCC logo is a graphic element, it should
be part of the overall design of the page, but still
recognizable as the College’s trademark. Typically,
it should be located either at the top or bottom of the
page of a publication.
S C A L E
The BRCC logo should always be in proportion to
other designs in the design area.
Accompanying T y p e f a ce
Helvetica Bold or Arial Bold are the standard
fonts associated with the BRCC logo. The type size
should be proportional to the image size of the logo
being used.
Web Pages
The placement and use of the logo on the Web
must follow these same guidelines. The logo should
always use the correct color and size and be placed on
the first page of major categories/sites. In some
instances, with permission from the Director of Public
Relations, the logo may be used as a background or
watermark. The size of the logo should never be
smaller than that used on BRCC business cards.
Refer to these Guidelines for use of color, grayscale,
and reverse versions of the logo.
business cards printed using their own private,
non-academic funds; however these cards
should meet the printing and design standards
set forth by the Office of Public Relations. Refer
to the illustrations of official stationery for those
styles approved for use by employees of the
