21 Large scale testing of water samples including water supply to the weaker<br />

section. (Rs. 100.0 lakh)<br />

The Delhi Water Board is presently having 6 well-equipped and modern<br />

laboratories having facilities to test physical, chemical and bacteriological<br />

parameters and are lifting on an average 300 samples per day. Besides this,<br />

samples are also being lifted by Junior Engineers of the DJB who have been<br />

provided with ‘Test Kits’ to determine on the spot presence of residual chlorine in<br />

drinking water. It is also proposed to intensify lifting of water samples and test<br />

about 500 samples a day to ensure water quality.<br />

An outlay of Rs. 100.00 lakh has been approved Annual Plan 2003-2004.<br />

22. Construction of 60 MGD Water Treatment Plant at Bhakarwala<br />

(Dwarka). (Rs. 20.00 lakh)<br />

Raw water to the extent of 80 MGD will be available after completion of parallel<br />

lined channel from Munak to Haiderpur because of savings in seepage losses.<br />

Out of this 40 MGD raw water is earmarked for Dwarka. Balance 20 MGD is for<br />

Bawana WTP and another 20 MGD is for Okhla WTP. It is proposed to construct<br />

initially, a 40 MGD water treatment plant at Bakkarwala (Dwarka). An expenditure<br />

of Rs.200.00 lacs is anticipated towards land acquisition, soil investigation<br />

/studies, boundary wall for this work.<br />

An outlay of Rs. 20 lacs has been approved for Annual Plan 2004-05.<br />

23. C/o 40 MGD water treatment plant at Okhla.( Rs. 100.00 lakh)<br />

It is proposed to construct initially a 20 MGD WTP at Okhla depending upon the<br />

availability of raw water.An expenditure of Rs. 200 Lacs is anticipated towards soil<br />

investigations, studies etc.<br />

An outlay of Rs. 100.00 lakh is approved for Annual Plan 2004-05<br />
