Corner of Peace
I don’t know about you but I really love colours with their great richness and endless variety of shades and intensity. Nature
provides a richness that we can never find in the city or manmade items – whether it is a river scene, a bush scene, a
sunrise or sun set, awesome scenery, animals and creatures busy and at play or a lovely garden.
That is not to say that I do not appreciate the colours which humans have used to beautify cities, and items made to
purchase either for daily use or as decorative additions to our lives. These items are often the result of much time and
effort, and in the long run are for the most part inspired by things in nature which are adjusted to be pleasing for their
designed use.
Then there is the beauty of pictures painted by artists, bringing into play a vibrant or subdued use of colour according to the
artist’s inspiration or design. And I am not only referring to the greats of art – I am also thinking of the beautiful, honest and
inspired artwork of our children right here in this school – I have been treated to some wonderful use of colour by the
children who join me on our Friday lunch time art group. (They are the artists – not me – I just provide the materials, ideas
and pictures/templates)
Every time I see the beauty in colour of the sunset or a delicate butterfly wing my heart sings in thanks
to our Creator God who made such wonders for us and all creation to enjoy and to share.
God Bless,
Moira
Flower Show
Thank you to all parents who donated flowers for the children to use at the Waikerie Flower Show. Your generosity was
appreciated and the children enjoyed creating many floral masterpieces to enter in the show. Below is pictures of the 2/3
class and their masterpieces.
Students of the Week
Teachers are encouraging the attitudes of appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity,
way of celebrating the demonstration of these attitudes by students, staff have elected these students this week.
Discovery Club
Dear Parents,
Discovery Club is on again at the Waikerie Social Centre on Friday, 2nd
November from 3:45pm until 5:00pm.
Discovery Club is a time when children aged 5-12 can listen to God’s Word,
be involved in craft activities and games and have fun. There is no cost
involved and children are supplied afternoon tea. It would be wonderful if
your child/children could come.
We will be using the school bus to transport students from school to the Social
Centre. For this week the Parish Discovery Club fund is paying for the bus. Tim
Hensel will be riding on the bus with the students and Robert Kalisch will be
driving the bus. During Discovery Club there will be several adults assisting
Tim, including Corrin Dubrich, Lorraine Fechner and Sharon Perry.
Thank you and God bless,
From Discovery Club Members
I __________________________ give permission for my child/children
the Waikerie Lutheran Social Centre on Friday, 2nd November via the
