• contact the <strong>In</strong>spector – EM&PO and/or the <strong>In</strong>cident Commander at the incident to receive a<br />

full briefing<br />

• in consultation with the <strong>In</strong>spector – EM&PO assess the nature of the incident and designate<br />

an appropriate <strong>In</strong>cident Commander if required or, assess the appropriateness of the<br />

current <strong>In</strong>cident Commander determining whether relief is required from the ICC<br />

• contact the Deputy Chief – Specialized Operations Command and fully brief<br />

• if required, activate and attend the PCC in accordance with IMS to provide strategic support<br />

to the <strong>In</strong>cident Commander at the disaster sites by managing all response efforts outside<br />

the inner perimeter including requests for additional human resources, materiel support,<br />

heavy equipment, information, safety instructions for emergency responders and media<br />

relations<br />

• in consultation with the <strong>In</strong>cident Commander manage the flow of information, verifying its<br />

integrity before dissemination to command officers, elected officials and Service members<br />

and provide the public with safety instructions through regular news and Public Service<br />

announcements by Corporate Communications<br />

• in consultation with the Deputy Chief – Specialized Operations Command co–ordinate all<br />

response activities with the EOC, when activated, and other affiliated municipal, provincial<br />

and federal agencies, boards, commissions and departments, as required<br />

• ensure essential police services continue to be provided to areas unaffected by the incident<br />

• ensure long term strategic planning options and recovery issues are continuously reviewed<br />

• ensure the PCC remains capable of operating on a continuous basis (24/7) as long as is<br />

required to support the incident and that such relief staffing includes an officer of sufficient<br />

training, rank and authority to access and redirect personnel and material support as well<br />

as liaise with other policing partners and external agencies<br />

• ensure the incident is being properly documented and records kept of all personnel<br />

involved, equipment appropriated, materiel allocated and costs expended<br />

• ensure any other strategic support is provided as required<br />

21. When notified of a Level 2 – Major <strong>In</strong>cident shall<br />

• contact the respective Deputy Chief and fully brief<br />

• ensure essential police services continue to be provided to areas unaffected by the incident<br />

22. When notified of a Level 3 – Disaster <strong>In</strong>cident or impending disaster shall request the<br />
