Application<br />

21. This Part applies to the Force. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 21.<br />

Providing uniform and equipment<br />

22. The Force shall provide all articles of uniform and equipment necessary for the performance<br />

of duty but, if a uniform or equipment is damaged or lost through the fault of a member of the Force, the<br />

member shall bear the cost of replacement. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 22.<br />

Political activity<br />

23. No member of the Force shall contravene or fail to comply with any provision in Part V<br />

(Political Activity) of the Public Service of Ontario Act, 2006. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 23.<br />

No contracting debts<br />

24. No member of the Force shall contract debts that the member is unwilling or unable to<br />

discharge and that may interfere with the performance of his or her duties as a member of the Force. O.<br />

Reg. 268/10, s. 24.<br />

Forfeiture of pay<br />

25. (1) If a penalty of more than one day’s forfeiture of pay is imposed under Part V of the Act,<br />

not more than one day’s pay shall be deducted in each pay period until the full penalty has been paid,<br />

unless otherwise agreed to by the police officer against whom the penalty is imposed or otherwise ordered<br />

by the Commissioner. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 25 (1).<br />

(2) If the police officer against whom a penalty described in subsection (1) is imposed ceases to be<br />

a member of the Force, the whole amount of the forfeiture of pay then remaining may be deducted from<br />

any pay then due. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 25 (2).<br />

Notice of resignation<br />

26. <strong>With</strong>out the consent of the Commissioner, no member of the Force shall resign unless the<br />

member has given two weeks notice in writing to the Commissioner. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 26.<br />

DUTIES OF POLICE OFFICERS<br />

27. (1) Every information sworn by a member of a police force that alleges the commission of an<br />

offence under an Act of the Parliament of Canada or of the Legislature of Ontario shall be prepared by a<br />

member of a police force. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 27 (1).<br />

(2) Every information mentioned in subsection (1) shall be prepared in a manner suitable for<br />

laying before a justice of the peace, on a prescribed form where it is required. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 27 (2).<br />

(3) Subsection (1) does not apply to a member of a police force who is police officer appointed<br />

under the <strong>In</strong>terprovincial Policing Act, 2009. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 27 (3).<br />

UNSATISFACTORY WORK PERFORMANCE<br />

28. This Part applies to municipal police forces and the Ontario Provincial <strong>Police</strong>. O. Reg.<br />

268/10, s. 28.<br />

Assessment of performance<br />

29. (1) Every chief of police shall establish policies for the assessment of police officers’ work<br />

performance. O. Reg. 268/10, s. 29 (1).<br />
