Honored with Alumni Hall of
Fame Award
The Alumni Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to recognize
individuals who embody what The American College stands for—
integrity, professionalism, volunteerism, and dedication to education.
During the Knowledge Summit in Las Vegas this past November, The
American College inducted three outstanding alumni into the 2013
Hall of Fame: Debra Boblitt, CLF ® ; Art Kraus, CLU ® , ChFC ® , CAP ® ; and
Gloria La Grassa, CLU ® , ChFC ® .
Debra Boblitt, CLF ® (far left) is a Senior Vice President of State
Farm Insurance, and has been with the company for over two
decades. Debra champions the advancement of women in the
industry. She played an instrumental role in encouraging State
Farm’s commitment to the Center for Women and Financial
Services at The American College. She currently serves as Secretary
of The American College Foundation Board of Directors and also
serves on the Board’s Executive Committee. She was a featured
speaker at The College’s 2011 Las Vegas Knowledge Summit and
was the keynote speaker for The College’s 2008 Conferment at
Pearl Harbor.
Art Kraus, CLU ® , ChFC ® , CAP ® (center) began his career in 1960
with Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company and was promoted to
President of Pacific Consulting Corporation, a subsidiary of Pacific
Life, in 1969. Soon after, he co-founded the AFP Group, which
grew to become one of the largest financial planning companies
in the country. In 1998, he became the CEO of NAIFA, and four
years later founded Capital Intelligence Associates with his son.
Art spends a great deal of his time on industry advocacy efforts in
Washington. He played a key role in spearheading The American
College’s Alumni LIVE events in Los Angeles in 2010 and 2013.
Art currently serves on The American College Foundation Board
of Directors.
Gloria La Grassa, CLU ® , ChFC ® (far right) began her career
alongside Charles Lamont Post, an early benefactor of The
College who endowed a chair concentrating on the study of ethics.
Gloria served on The College’s Board of Trustees for seven years
and on the Foundation Board of Directors for nine years. She was
the Secretary on each board for five years. She also served on the
Presidential Search Committee in 2002. In 1999, Gloria helped
fund The College’s state-of-the-art auditorium. In 2009, Gloria
received the Huebner Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by
The American College. In 2011, The American College dedicated
the academic floor of MDRT Foundation Hall in her honor.
