with the observed d<strong>at</strong>a <strong>in</strong> a (2 <strong>in</strong>tr<strong>in</strong>sic +2 extr<strong>in</strong>sic)-dimensional parameter space. It<br />
<strong>in</strong>cludes a wide list <strong>of</strong> filters for <strong>different</strong> systems (Johnson-Cous<strong>in</strong>s, HST/WFPC2, 2MASS,<br />
. . . ) and allows for published magnitudes to be used directly. For a set <strong>of</strong> objects with<br />
measured magnitudes m 1 , m 2 , . . . , m M+1 (with <strong>in</strong>dependent uncerta<strong>in</strong>ties σ 1 , σ 2 , . . . , σ M+1 ),<br />
derived <strong>in</strong>dependent colors c 1 , c 2 , . . . , c M , and a set <strong>of</strong> N parameters with M > N, no strict<br />
solutions, but only approxim<strong>at</strong>e ones, can be found s<strong>in</strong>ce the problem has more equ<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
or sets <strong>of</strong> model parameters th<strong>at</strong> produce a given color than model parameters. Hence, the<br />
code f<strong>in</strong>ds the N-volume <strong>of</strong> approxim<strong>at</strong>e solutions by us<strong>in</strong>g χ 2 m<strong>in</strong>imiz<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
The first step <strong>of</strong> the program is to read the unreddened SED models, ext<strong>in</strong>guish them<br />
accord<strong>in</strong>g to a given ext<strong>in</strong>ction law, and obta<strong>in</strong> the synthetic photometry; the code <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />
