Where everyone is welcome, nobody is perfect, and anything is possible.
Today in worship
This morning, Marnie Crumpler will preach at 8:45, 10:00 and 11:15 a.m., as we continue
our sermon series, Does Jesus Still Matter The Gospel of John. The scripture for today’s
sermon “Jesus Shows Up” is John 20:19-31.
This morning, we welcome our special guest Tom Key, Executive Artistic Director of
Theatrical Outfit, a friend of Peachtree and beloved Atlanta actor, Tom has been in demand
as a solo performer across North America for three decades. To learn more about Tom
and Theatrical Outfit, go to their website at www.theatricaloutfit.org.
In all of the services this morning, we celebrate the sacrament of baptism. Baptism
of infants is one way we look to the future. As we welcome these children into our
fellowship, we also pledge that we will nurture their faith in the hope that they will one
day profess their own faith in Jesus Christ.
Connect with our community
Come down to “Take 10” in the Williams Center immediately after the service. You’ll
find coffee, lemonade and a cookie waiting.
To God Be the
Glory was written
for children in 1875
by Fanny Crosby,
one of the most
prolific writers of
gospel music. Blind
from birth, Fanny
wrote over 8,000
hymns—three new
hymns each week.
This hymn was all
but forgotten until
it was introduced
at the Billy Graham
Crusade in London
in 1954. For what
do you give
God the glory
Confession of Faith
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God.
Jesus proclaimed the reign of God:
Preaching good news to the poor
And release to the captives,
Teaching by word and deed and blessing the children,
Healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted,
Eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners,
And calling all to repent and believe the gospel.
Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition,
Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain
And giving his life for the sins of the world.
God raised Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life,
Breaking the power of sin and evil,
Delivering us from death to life eternal.
How God Became King: The Forgotten
Story of the Gospels
by N. T. Wright
Foundational: The four gospels come directly from the
ancient church and are among the primary sources
for the church’s teachings.
Familiar: Since Christian worship services began, a
reading from the gospels has played a central role.
Studied: For over two hundred years scholars have challenged and
defended the central claims of the gospels: miracles, historical accuracy,
the divinity of Jesus, and more.
But Forgotten: Still, leading Bible scholar N. T. Wright reveals shocking
news: We have all forgotten what the four gospels are about.
Available in the Peachtree Bookstore and the Williams Center.
IMPACT ATLANTA!
Peachtree invites you to join us as we work alongside our community partners to
IMPACT ATLANTA. For 30 days, we will offer a volunteer opportunity every day from
April 9-May 8 where the Peachtree community can show Christ’s love by serving our neighbors.
Volunteers will engage in God’s work around the city by feeding the homeless, tutoring
low-income children, sorting clothing closets and food pantries, and much more.
