Directors Chair 

Dear Marian Catholic Family, 

This is an important time for the Board of Directors in the history of Marian Catholic 

High School. In collaboration with the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, the Board 

has completed a two-year transition from an Advisory Board to a Board of Directors. 

Diligent study and application of the Dominican Spirit were pursued, using the 

core values of the Dominican Mission in making decisions that impact the school 

community. 

The Board began this past year with a retreat in Springfield. The full day’s events 

included a liturgy, a brunch which reunited Board Directors who are alumni with 

former teachers, a presentation of the history of the Dominican Sisters, a tour of the 

Motherhouse and Jubilee Farm, and a goal-setting session. The warm, caring, and 

welcoming atmosphere of the Dominican Sisters, together with the eagerness of the Directors, nourished the rich relationship between 

the Board and the Sisters. 

The committees of the Board partner with school personnel to address matters of finance, facilities, and advancement. Working 

together, their efforts focus on ensuring Marian’s continued success well into the future. Areas of technology and security continue 

to be reassessed and enhanced to offer state-of-the-art capabilities. Public relations and marketing promote Marian Catholic as the 

fine educational institution it continues to be. The Environmental Committee works with students and faculty to advance the all-school 

plan: Caring for God’s Resources. Mission Integration works to ensure that our Dominican values permeate all Marian’s activities 

and decisions. The President Committee is obligated to evaluate the position of President and develop policy for searching for a new 

president when that time comes. The Directors Committee is responsible for the nomination and evaluation of Directors for the Board. 

The committees of the Board, partnering with the school, work to supply the means, knowledge and opportunity for our students and 

their families to enjoy the optimal Marian Catholic experience! 

The Board of Directors is a very dedicated group, a governing body which strives to ensure that all its decisions uphold the Mission of 

Marian Catholic High School in concert with the Mission of the Dominican Sisters. The Directors, each from personal and professional 

lifetime experiences, replete with a true desire to work in community, exhibit a deep spirit of cooperation and willingness to serve. It is 

such a privilege to work with them! 

We are grateful for the generous support and continued commitment of all those who contribute to providing resources so that our 

Scholars with a Soul may receive an educational experience of the highest quality. May God continue to send His blessings on the entire

Letter from the President 

Dear Marian Catholic High School Community, 

The oldest tree on our property was recently struck by lightning. With its main trunk ripped deeply to the core, 

the wounded tree will struggle to survive the winter’s frost. In the adjoining courtyard, a cavernous hole opens to 

embrace the foundation of the enhanced Technology/Media Center, displacing mature plants and making way for 

a newly envisioned library garden. In the science courtyard, the renovation of the sundial and solar arch has been 

completed. New lighting and a sound system enhance The Gierczyk Courtyard. 

Looking out upon the form and function of our beautiful courtyards provides a backdrop against which to reflect 

upon the impact of each person in the Marian Catholic Community. Like trees well rooted and sometimes 

wounded, each person contributes to the landscape of our tradition of Catholic Education which encompasses the 

local community and beyond. 

We are filled with awe and wonder as we witness the transformation of our young men and women during their 

season of growth at Marian Catholic High School. We are grateful to all who give support and guidance to our 

students, serving as parents, teachers, administrators, coaches, mentors, and investors. You are faithful partners 

in the Dominican Mission, and we thank you for entering the courtyards of education to help cultivate our Scholars 

with a Soul. 

With gratitude for the contribution you make as an investor, we present the Marian Catholic High School Annual

Our Mission 

Marian Catholic High School is a Catholic, coeducational, 

college preparatory high school within the 

Dominican tradition of study, prayer, community, and preaching. 

Marian Catholic students seek truth, exhibit personal 

responsibility, cultivate their individual talents, and demonstrate 

ethical leadership and Christian service.

Honors Night is the first in the trilogy of 

graduation ceremonies for the class of 2011. You are 

the 50th class to graduate from Marian Catholic. In 

1958, Marian opened with only a freshman class. 

There have been 49 previous classes who have 

received Marian Catholic diplomas from this school 

of strong relationships and traditions that have 

formed the bedrock of our faith community. 

You, the class of 2011, will join the decades of 

graduates who have made their mark on our school 

community. Over these last four years, you have 

learned the significance of being part of a strong 

faith community; one that recognizes the spark of 

God’s creation in each person. That recognition of 

God’s life within each of us, helped you recognize the 

dignity that is the DNA of every person. That mutual 

respect is what has forged your friendships over the 

last four years, and has formed the Marian community 

throughout five decades of our existence. 

We have confidence that as you move beyond 

Marian Catholic you will take all you have learned 

about goodness, justice and mutual responsibility 

for one another as you make future decisions. Thank 

you for your leadership, your scholarship and your 

integrity. Thank you for the ways you have enriched 

our school community these last four years. We are 

honored to have walked with you throughout your

A Return on Your Investment... 

The graduating class of 2011 earned $16.1 million in scholarship awards and 117 of them were AP Scholars at Marian Catholic during the 2010-2011 school year. 

One of the hallmarks of a Marian Catholic education is learning and studying in order to achieve a glimmer of the magnitude of God’s love, and our responsibility to leave a legacy of that love for other people and future 

generations. Our dedicated teachers have inspired us to hold a respect for the world we live in and where we have come from, while optimistically looking forward to a better and more peaceful world that we can create. 

An education in and of itself is important, but our teachers have reinforced the notion that how we use the information is unquestionably more important. During our time in class, they have instilled within us a drive for 

truth, not obscured by bias or deceit. As we move forward in a world full of gimmicks and complexity, the faculty and staff have given us the skills to succeed and the faith that God is always by our side.

advancement overview 

Our Advancement objectives in 2010-2011 were to develop, 

facilitate and secure the financial and human resources necessary 

for Marian Catholic High School to realize its mission and vision. 

Remaining open to change and seeking best practices, an 

overview of our collective efforts includes: 

• extending national and local outreach to hundreds of 

alumni and friends in Washington, DC, Ft. Myers, FL, and 

metro Chicago; 

• launching a revitalized Alumni Association and formally 

installing officers to serve 15,413 alumni; 

• announcing three newly endowed scholarships giving the 

school 41 active scholarships; 

• awarding $562,000 in financial aid to 403 students from 

Dominican Sisters Annual Giving, Sr. Simeon Fund, and 

Endowed Scholarships; 

• facilitating with the Class of ’65 a class memorial gift to 

benefit student tuition aid; 

• fortifying and funding the educational mission by inviting and 

accepting over 2,200 gifts to all elements of the Marian 

Fund, the Endowment Fund, and TC2L Capital Campaign; 

• netting the school $2.5 million to augment operating costs; 

• hosting almost 2,000 constituents on-campus for 

Reunions, Homecoming, Hall of Fame, Phonathons, Marian 

Madness, Memorial Mass, Graduate Alumni Pinning and 

student programs; 

• mailing letters, releases, publications to 15,000 alumni, 

parents, friends, corporations, foundations and media; 

• visiting and recruiting students from 75 zip codes and 

welcoming 388 students to the class of 2014; 

• witnessing the historic appointment of the Marian Catholic 

High School Board of Directors; 

• servicing, advising and supporting the Board of Directors 

committees; 

• mourning with our Marian Catholic family and friends the 

loss of loved ones, many of whom were servant leaders as 

classmates, parents and alumni benefactors; 

• planning and inviting leadership investors to enhance the 

Technology /Media Center; 

• listening to our alumni, parents, and friends who have 

Marian Catholic’s best interests at heart, continuing the 

dialogue with our Dominican and lay leadership to remain 

proactive in our stewardship, leadership and governance. 

The “bookends” to this Annual Report are the students and 

families whom we serve academically, creatively, physically and 

spiritually. Placing the 2010 graduates at the beginning of this 

report affirms that they are the living mission statement of Marian 

Catholic. Our parents and alumni volunteer organizations and 

related networks are integral to guiding and funding the mission. 

A hallmark of Marian Catholic is the ownership model that has 

been encouraged and recognized for 53 years by our founders, 

the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, along with our faculty 

and staff. 

We are a blessed community.

Annual Gifts to Marian Catholic 2010-2011 

Marian Catholic High School operates on a fiscal year: July 1 through June 30. Fiscal Year 2010- 

2011 gifts to the school are invited and recorded in keeping with the institutional accounting practice. 

While a calendar year record of giving is generated and mailed to our donors to accommodate Federal 

tax regulations, recognition of gifts to Marian Catholic continue on a fiscal year basis, consistent with 

the school’s financial reporting. 

New this year, the following listing of benefactors reflects all gifts to the school received during the 

2010-2011 fiscal year. These include single or multiple gifts or pledge payments received through all 

the programs or events of the Marian Fund, the Endowment Fund, and The Courage to Lead Capital

Sr. Simeon fund 

Sr. M. Simeon McCoppin, O.P., served 

as the Marian Catholic High School 

Treasurer from 1983 to 1999. Her legacy 

of “assistance with accountability” 

remains a core tenet of the fund which 

bears her name. 

Sponsorship allocations from the Sr. Simeon Fund can be made at any time during the year 

due to loss of a parent, health issues, or other financial crisis in the family. Sponsorships 

are given to students in good academic and disciplinary standing. These funds are limited 

and dependent upon the contribution of benefactors through annual giving to Marian

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE and 

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FUNDING SOURCES 

Ministry subsidy grants from the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, annual giving gifts 

received from the MCHS community directed to The Sr. Simeon Fund for emergency tuition 

sponsorship, and the Endowed Scholarship Program, all comprise the sources of tuition 

assistance available to our students. 

Families apply for financial assistance by submitting documentation, including income tax 

information, to an outside agency which determines need. In addition, a letter demonstrating 

financial need should be sent to the President’s Office. Student referrals are also advanced 

from within the Marian Catholic community. 

MINISTRY SUBSIDY GRANTS: DOMINICAN SISTERS OF SPRINGFIELD 

Financial assistance is largely made possible through the goodness of the Dominican Sisters who 

have established grants to subsidize the ministry of their Sisters. The administration of Marian 

Catholic has traditionally restricted their total gift to tuition assistance. 

In the 2010-2011 school year, the tuition of 176 students was subsidized in amounts ranging 

from $750 to $2,000 for a total of $200,000. 

THE SR. SIMEON O.P. FUND FOR TUITION SPONSORSHIP 

This program, an element of the Marian Fund, realizes the dream of Sr. M. Simeon McCoppin, 

O.P., MCHS Treasurer, who worked with many families to find emergency financial sponsorship to 

supplement the funds gifted annually by the Dominican Sisters. Students receive tuition assistance 

in amounts appropriate to the situation, the need, and the availability of funds throughout the year. 

In 2010-2011, tuition sponsorships totaling $202,000 were made available to 122 students. 

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS 

Endowed scholarships are gifted by benefactors and awarded annually using the interest earned 

on the principal invested in an endowment fund. All endowed scholarship funds are invested with 

professional managers and are restricted for annual tuition assistance in keeping with the criteria 

established by respective benefactors. Administration may divide accrued interest to assist more 

than one student. 

Scholarships in the amount of $189,750 were awarded to 84 students in 2010-2011. 

Active Scholarships include: 

MARIAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL ENDOWMENT GOLF CLASSIC SCHOLARSHIPS 

With the funds accrued from the Marian Catholic High School Endowment Classic golf outing, this 

fund now assists several students with partial tuition scholarships and is used for students in good 

standing whose families have suffered a loss or hardship. 

THE MORRISON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by alumni parents J.M. and JoAnne Morrison, strong advocates for academic 

recognition, this scholarship requires academic excellence, selfless service, and involvement in 

school activities. The scholarship is restricted to those with superior academic performance. 

THE ERMAN C. SAVANT AND LAWRENCE J. CASSIDY FAMILIES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by alumni parents Edward and Betty Savant in honor of their parents who labored 

to give their children an excellent education, the scholarship requires strong character and solid

Established anonymously by an alumnus of the Class of 1967, and later designated by him with the 

above title, the award is pre-conditioned on the willingness of the student to later assist others with 

similar need once s/he is established in a career. 

THE BERT W. AND RITA B. MEANS SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by an anonymous alumni parent in memory of her gentle but strong parents who 

supported the Dominican Sisters of St. Christina Parish and provided Catholic education for their own 

children, this scholarship is given to a young woman whose sense of Catholic service is demonstrated. 

THE MARGARET S. WRUBEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by Frank Bracha in memory of his niece Margie who encouraged her family to achieve, 

this scholarship funds one student annually who evidences character and service, with first preference 

given to students from the East Side of Chicago. 

THE MARIAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL MOTHERS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by Mothers Club officers and funded through memorials restricted to the Marian 

Catholic Mothers Club, and also by Marian Catholic annual gifts flowing from the Mothers Club 

Fashion Show, the scholarship gives first priority to students of Mothers Club members at the death 

of a parent. 

THE SR. CATHERINE O’NEILL, O.P. SCHOLARSHIP 

An anonymous donor is remembering her Dominican Sister grade school teachers through endowment, 

restricting the recipient to a young man of humor and kindness whose parents show a strong 

commitment to Catholic education. 

THE KEVIN E. BEUKEMA ’97 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by The Beukema Family in memory of Kevin, a young man of service, joy, and faith 

whose young life was cut short by a drunken driver, this scholarship that bears Kevin’s name 

requires that a student be willing to offer generous service in the context of academics and of faith. 

THE TIMOTHY AND MARY ANN ORMSBY O’HEA ’63 ’62 FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

As MCHS graduates whose five children also graduated from Marian Catholic, Tim and Mary Ann 

O’Hea ’63 ’62 designed this family scholarship to encourage the efforts and investment of families 

having three or more children at Marian Catholic at the same time. 

THE RICHARD AND ANNE POTTS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by former Student Council President and present Mercy Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. 

Steven Potts, M.D. ’77 in honor of his parents, this scholarship has traditionally been given to 

qualified students whose families have a medical emergency. 

THE FLANAGAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by Hall of Fame inductee Terry Flanagan ’62 and his wife, Patricia LeRose Flanagan ’64, the 

fund recognizes the average student who evidences extraordinary effort in every area of school life.

THE KEVIN F. MAHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Given in memory of their son Kevin who was killed as a high school senior in an automobile 

accident, B.K. and Frank Maher established this award which requires at least average academics 

and a positive attitude reflected in involvement and service. 

THE ARTHUR AND LA VERNE WELSH SCHOLARSHIP 

Designated by the Welsh sons and daughters in honor of their parents’ 85th and 75th birthdays, 

the scholarship is restricted to a good student whose parent is expending extraordinary effort to 

retain the student in a Catholic high school. 

THE ELIZABETH AND JOHN BITUNJAC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

This scholarship was established by alumni parent Jean Fuehrmeyer in memory of her parents 

whose fidelity and commitment to Catholic education were extraordinary, especially in light of John’s 

blindness from World War II. 

THE VINCENT PASCALE ’63 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Given in memory of Vince, well-loved MCHS alumnus of the Class of 1963, by his parents Dr. Luke 

and Elsie Pascale, this scholarship is restricted to a solid student whose family evidences courage 

in the face of illness. 

THE LT. COMMANDER PATRICK J. MURPHY ’81 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

This scholarship is in honor of Lt. Patrick J. Murphy ’81 whose life was taken in the terrorist attack 

on The Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Established by classmates of Patrick Murphy who 

sought a living tribute, a yearly reminder of lives lived with courage, this ongoing scholarship is 

given to a student who evidences service to God, country and family. 

THE GEORGE KLUPCHAK FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

An ardent fan of every activity in which his children were involved, alumni parent George Klupchak 

appreciated both effort and talent. The scholarship was established in George’s name by the 

Klupchak family, as well as by friends led by Tom Kubisak ’69. 

THE ANNE NOVAK ’08 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by her family in memory and honor of Annie who lost her life in a car accident as 

a Sophomore at Marian Catholic High School. In keeping with Annie Novak’s joyous spirit, the 

Scholarship recognizes a young student whose faith makes God’s love known to others. The Novak 

Family has endorsed the direction of other gifts into this special fund. 

THE AMADIO (STU) AND JO ANNE BRUNI SCHOLARSHIP 

With the sudden and tragic death of Amadio “Stu” Bruni, his family and friends directed memorials 

in his name to Marian Catholic. Stu’s family later funded this endowed scholarship to be given to a 

student who lives in Stu’s spirit-with energy, integrity, hard work, and personal poise. 

THE DEAN PEROZZI, JR. ’94 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by family and friends in memory of Dean whose young life was cut short by a tragic 

accident while working, the scholarship honors Dean’s love of music and the arts. 

THE GEORGE AND SHIRLEY KLINE SCHOLARSHIP 

Shirley and George Kline (Kline’s Department Store of Chicago Heights), local residents for more than 

50 years, believed education is the biggest key to success and wished to maintain their commitment 

of helping young people to pursue their college prep educational goals. Through the initiative of 

Shirley, the Klines established a scholarship to benefit children of noble, working families in Chicago 

Heights and locally who want to achieve and give back to their community in return. 

THE FLAMINI FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Flowing from an understanding of loss and the memory of a friend, this scholarship honors Marian 

Catholic High School alumna Gail Amos ’68 whose death came too soon, and whose gifts intersect 

with the values of The Flamini Family and their own journey of caring, of children, of laughter, and 

of good mischief. The scholarship is restricted to families who have experienced loss. 

THE NICOLA AND MARIA M. PASCARELLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Given by alumni parent Philip Pascarella in memory of his parents, faith-filled Catholic individuals 

who valued hard work and integrity, the fund is restricted to a student with a strong work ethic 

who lives the Catholic faith. 

THE RWP ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP 

The scholarship honors a man preferring anonymity, with a great heart, a pioneering 

independence, and a passion for the arts and academics. The scholarship is open to any student 

who works hard for academic success, at any grade level, and exhibits an enthusiasm and interest 

to develop his/her fine arts talents. 

THE KATHLEEN B. DUCHOSSOIS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by George Duchossois ’70 in memory of his mother, The Kathleen B. Duchossois 

Endowed Scholarship supports a student who actively participates in the academic extracurricular 

programs offered at Marian Catholic with special consideration extended to single parent families. 

THE J.D. HILLIARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

J.D. Hilliard cherished his life with his family and friends. This Scholarship was established by 

The Hilliard Family and their friends to honor his memory. 

THE DIANE FUSHI DEFRIES ’64 SCHOLARSHIP 

Given in memory of Diane DeFries ’64 by her friends (led by Mary Ann Balfour Carlstead ’64), 

the scholarship is restricted to a student sharing Diane’s love of service and/or a family who has 

suffered from cancer. 

THE COURAGE TO LEAD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS 

This category of scholarships was given further impetus during The Courage to Lead Capital 

Campaign. In the spirit of leadership, all scholarships created through and after the Campaign 

will carry the TC2L scholarship criteria that the student, once established in his or her own 

career and family, commit to “leading” and assisting another family in similar circumstances. 

THE KRONER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by alumni parent Peter A. Kroner, Jr., The Kroner Family Scholarship reflects passion 

for increasing a student’s opportunities through completing post-secondary education at the 

appropriate college/university and is offered to seniors through essay application. 

THE MARIAN CATHOLIC TC2L ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR LEADERSHIP 

This scholarship is the result of accumulated gifts to Marian Catholic through The Courage to Lead

Established by the children of Lucille and Arthur Ferrari to honor the memory of parents whose energy, 

hard work, and vision created in their family a culture of entrepreneurship, integrity and responsibility, 

this scholarship is especially targeted for students trained to work in The Lucille Ferrari Spartan Shop. 

THE JACK GALLAGHER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established in the spirit of an entrepreneurial and loving family, The Jack Gallagher Family Scholarship 

is awarded to a student who is distinguished by a strong work ethic, integrity, humor, and initiative. 

THE GRIFFIN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established by alumni parents Dan and Holly Griffin as a response to young people called to service 

and leadership, this scholarship recognizes that students and families form the key to Marian 

Catholic’s future in their willingness to share with others what has been shared with them. 

THE MCQUADE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (Also called the “Spunk and Spirit Award”) 

Through the gift of this scholarship, The McQuade Family affirms that average students with 

“spark” can light fires of humor, kindness and courage. Special preference is given to a student 

whose family is facing illness. 

THE FRED W. AND LA VERNE BRZOZOWSKI FAMILY SCHOALRSHIP 

Given by the family of alumni parent, Fred W. Brzozowski, whose generosity, humor and kindness were 

known to all who knew him, this scholarship is intended to benefit single parent families in financial need 

whose sons or daughters are willing to seize the opportunity of the dream of a Catholic education. 

MARIAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP 

Established through the accumulated gifts from the proceeds of student activities to support The 

Courage to Lead capital campaign, this scholarship is open to current students of high academic 

performance, in good disciplinary standing who are actively involved in student leadership 

as: a student council member; a class officer; an executive board officer or as an Emmaus 

representative. The recipient is chosen by a committee of student leaders and the Vice-Principal of 

Student Activities and the school President. 

THE HELEN AND HARRY HOWISEN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Gifted by alumni parents who value the Catholic faith, this scholarship is given to a young person 

with hard work and courage who faces chronic health issues or difficulties. 

THE RIPPEY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Established and funded by alumni parents Michael and Cherie Rippey, this scholarship was 

established to assist qualified students having financial need to attend Marian Catholic High School 

without constant concern about how to meet the cost of such attendance. 

THE KEVIN RIPPEY ’05 SCHOLARSHIP 

Established and funded by Kevin’s parents, Michael and Cherie Rippey, this scholarship recognizes the 

value of a Catholic high school education and is based on the beliefs of The Rippey Family Scholarship. 

The scholarship, in the spirit of all scholarships emerging through The Courage to Lead, speaks to a 

moral obligation of giving freely to another what we have been freely given: opportunity. 

THE LAWRENCE AND GENEVIEVE FRAZZINI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

Created by William and Carol (Frazzini) ’74 Elliott in honor of Carol’s parents, in keeping with the 

kindness, simplicity, and genuine refinement of Lawrence and Genevieve Frazzini, the scholarship 

calls for a student who mirrors their humility, gentleness and simplicity. 

THE HOGAN-KING FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP 

Initiated by alumni parent Dick King in honor of his wife, Mary Kay Hogan ’78 King, this scholarship 

celebrates families with a proven commitment to Catholic education, even in the face of adversitythe 

loss of a parent in death, the illness of a parent which incurs crushing medical expenses, or the 

loss of employment by a parent.

The Sr. M. Paul Endowment 

Through a grass roots effort, the Marian Catholic community established The Sr. Mary Paul 

Endowment in September 2008 to honor what is closest to her heart – the students, faculty and 

families of Marian Catholic High School. At the discretion of Sr. Paul, funds may be channeled 

toward faculty development or student scholarship. 

The Great Lakes Bank of Choice Endowment, given in honor of Mr. Melvin Hoekstra, a 

long-time member of the Board of Directors, close to young people and active in multiple community 

initiatives, is designed to strengthen ethical leadership. This endowment supports the Marian Catholic 

High School The Courage to Lead Program by helping to underwrite the Program Director costs. 

The Mark ’76 and Karen Weishaar Family Chapel Endowment 

In honor of Mark’s mother, Leona, and in memory of his father, Paul, this endowment celebrates 

the action of God in the lives of students, especially in those moments spent present to God in the 

Marian Catholic Student Chapel. This endowment is intended for the up-keep of the Student Chapel 

and to support Campus Ministry Retreat Programs. 

The Loesch Family Vocation Fund is an endowed scholarship established by Loesch alumni, 

in honor of their parents, Connor and Anne Loesch on the occasion of their being inducted into 

the Marian Catholic High School 2008 Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement. The Loesch Family 

Vocation Fund will provide revenue for the promotion of religious vocations, especially to the 

consecrated life of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield.

Golf Classic 2010 

In its 21st year, the Marian Catholic Endowment Golf Classic has 

focused on building a future of scholarship. By investing the proceeds 

from the Endowment Golf Classic and holding them in perpetuity, the 

interest generated from the principal has supported qualified students 

who otherwise could not afford to attend Marian Catholic High School; 

students with the spunk and spirit of our golfers, young people 

who value the privilege to become scholars with a soul. The 2010 

Endowment Classic raised $102,000 for student scholarships.

Goldrick was honored at the annual Hall of 

Fame Awards by his peers, friends and family 

for not only his distinctive tenacity, but also for 

nurturing thousands of “scholars with a soul” 

over the years. For many people, he has been a 

counselor, friend and voice of reason.
