THE TERRY LEACH SCHOLARSHIP<br />
FOR POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH IN<br />
PETROLOGY & GEOCHEMISTRY<br />
Hellman & Sch<strong>of</strong>ield Pty Ltd is <strong>of</strong>fering a one-<strong>of</strong>f scholarship to the<br />
value <strong>of</strong> A$20,000 to honour the life and work <strong>of</strong> Terry Leach BSc<br />
(Carleton University), MSc (Hons 1, Auckland University),<br />
M.Soc.Econ.Geol. Terry passed away 28 Feb, 2007.<br />
The scholarship is <strong>of</strong>fered to PhD students who are:<br />
• citizens <strong>of</strong> Australia or <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong><br />
• under 30 years <strong>of</strong> age<br />
• enrolled at an Australian or <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> university<br />
• members <strong>of</strong> the Australian Institute <strong>of</strong> Geoscientists<br />
(AIG) or Australasian Institute <strong>of</strong> Mining & Metallurgy<br />
(AusIMM)<br />
• undertaking a PhD in the geochemistry, mineralogy and<br />
petrology <strong>of</strong> hydrothermal alteration associated with<br />
porphyry, epithermal, or Carlin-type deposits.<br />
The scholarship is <strong>of</strong>fered to fund costs associated with<br />
overseas field and/or research work related to the applicant’s<br />
PhD project.<br />
The successful candidate is expected to publish their research<br />
in journals <strong>of</strong> international reputation.<br />
