its first year in 2008, coordinating with
the Dammam Blood Bank to set-up a
collection station in our offices. Over the
years Rawabi Holding employees have
shown commitment and dedication to the
cause. This year a total of 68 employees
successfully donated 450ML of blood
each for a total of 30,600ML.
Over the past five years,
Rawabi Holding employees
have donated a total of
132,710ML of blood — that’s
enough to save the lives of
over 1150 people. ‎
The transfusion of blood helps save
millions of lives every year — each donation
can help up to four different patients. It
can help improve life expectancy and the
quality of life for patients. Donated blood

is utilized for premature and pre-term
babies, newborns with severe jaundice,
patients with leukemia, thalassemia and
anemia, road traffic accident victims,
and other patients suffering from lifethreatening
conditions. It also supports
the successful completion of complex
medical and surgical procedures. Healthy
adults between 18-65 weighing more
than 50Kg can safely donate blood. Each
donor is given a quick medical checkup
to determine their eligibility and fitness
to donate, and once given the green light,
around 450 ML of blood is drawn. This
consists of less than 8% of one’s total
blood volume and the body replaces it
in a short amount of time. Donors can
give blood every 2-3 months, which can
actually be beneficial to donor’s health as
it stimulates bone marrow cell production
and decreases blood viscosity.
