“Simply the Best”
Motor Development Program
“Simply The Best” is an after school program
specifically designed to enhance the sensorimotor
development of children. If your child has a problem
with basic skill development, movement, or learning
problems, he/she may benefit from this program.
Sessions will also be available for individuals not
experiencing problems but would like to further
develop their motor skills.
The purpose of “Simply The Best” is to promote
neurological growth, develop motor skills, improve
body awareness and cultivate a healthy self-esteem.
Times will be arranged with parents according to
placement of the child. A Sensorimotor Assessment
is strongly recommended for appropriate placement.
Fee for the assessment will be $65.
Simply The Best will be supervised by Ann Platte,
an Adaptive Physical Education Consultant, with
a Masters’ Degree in Special Physical Education
and Early Childhood Education. Ann was the lab
supervisor for the SPELL program at WMU for three
years.
A four-week session will cost $95 for one hour per
week. (Parents requesting one-on-one sessions will be
required to pay a fee of $190 for a four-week session.
For a group session and an individual session, the cost
would be $285. This will be a continuing program
throughout the school year. Parents whose children
are very young, or have special needs that are more
severe, may be required to participate in the activity
program with the child.
Children should wear tennis shoes and clothing that
they can move around in freely. For safety, clothing
should not have any strings dangling that may catch on
equipment (such as a hooded sweat shirt).
